Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Very little will be known on December 10

Why are people so excited about December 10? Aside from those who opted to accept Verizon's buyout option, nobody will know more than they do right this moment. And it will remain like that most likely until the last week of December, if not later.

Manage your expectations, people, or you'll end up needing Xanax before this whole thing is over.

Wrong. Everything will be known on December 10th. As in when I get to exit this giant turd of a company.

Once I have that and my money, I could care less what comes next for this sinking ship. I get to pay off my house and take an easy job until I retire.

I expect my coworkers who do get told they go December 28th won’t get any guidance on what to do nor will those who remain we’ll just hear sometime next year how we didn’t do x and get a bad performance review for the year.

Approved (and end date) or Denied. That's plenty.

“ Our director already informed us that she has seen the list. The decisions were made by her leadership.” - @1erk

1erk, trust our Dear Leaders. They have the wisdom associated with the “big picture” vantage point, while we’re attempting to get a lay of the land by peering from a valley.

anyone who believes their locals leaders do not know who is going is delusional.

Most people who come here care about the offer, not about the reorg. So December 10th IS important to them. They will find out if they were accepted and when they will leave.

Accepted, when, or rejected outright. That is the question

I think the 10th will be revealing for many, myself included. Knowing whether I was accepted or not. My local leaders do not who opted to take the separation so they will have a better understanding of account allocation etc.. I don’t believe that Monday will give the clearest view into 2.0 but some fog will be removed on Monday.

The impacts of VSP to the employees left really is less of an impact than the reorgs planned behind them. I tend to agree that outside of knowing who you may have to start transition work with, little else available Monday.

I have no expectations including yes or no. Haha. Verizon will at least inform the individuals like me so we can rest easy knowing what to expect in the next several weeks/ months til our release date.

My question is how much of our permissions will be removed once we are told yes? I know in most RIFs that permissions were gonzo 24 hours after they were notified.

I think there actually will be more details shared on the 10th. From my understanding some ADs have told their SMs they will ONLY be able to share more details as of that date(12/10)... you have to realize some mid level leaders currently don't know which employees are leaving/clicked the button unless the employee told them. This is as of yesterday.

Trust me. Even the ones who are staying can’t wait for the VSP announcements.

Will the people selected for the first round of layoffs be notified on 12/10 also? so they can be off the books by year end?

Are there really expectations about the 10th other than peoples' release dates?
