Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Why can’t Wesfarmers buy?

It’s frustrating to visit Australia and see such well-stocked and well-run KMart locations, and know that we have none of that in the US.

If liquidation happens, I sincerely hope Wesfarmers takes over the Guam store and make it as good as the locations in Australia and New Zealand.

Wesfarmers is from an Anglo country, that already operates in two “5 Eyes” nations. Let them buy the US KMart IP, and the Guam store. Japan or China make zero sense when you have Australia and New Zealand already using the KMart name, and not that far away from Guam.

They ain't gonna buy Guam, Asian countries like China or Japan will- likely China given how they want to own everything now that the US has given them so much money.

Guam is a US territory; it's not a natural acquisition target for an Australian business. I'd bet that Walmart would snap it up in a heartbeat. In addition to their massive US business, they have retail holdings in Japan (much closer to Guam than Oz) as well as China.
