Thread regarding Sears layoffs

New Layoffs

Word from Chicago. All Market Leaders, Division VPs and other division managers are all in Chicago this week at Hoffman Estates.

New IBO is supposed to occur last week of March. They will decide on new store staffing structure and changes to the way the store and company is run.

Division VP will have some swing in certain top performing stores on saving certain positions.

No details on what or who will get cut..

if anyone has any details please share I’m sure everyone is worried.

@XVhtolu-1esv In our stores our sales were really dropping big. I think if we were still opened I would wonder what position they would cut I would have to say AP and the last ASM would be cut. They either would turn ASM position into a Supervisor or just eliminated and give the work to another Supervisor, but I think they would just make a Supervisor position and just pay a buck more to $2 more cutting it big time vs ASM. Also I would assume in our store the last remaining leads/coordinator positions would be cut.

Just by thinking about all this stuff it was already bad enough when SST started now I can't imagine how horrible it would be if all this actually happened man.

@1vjk By Labor Law and by definition managers have to be salary exempt because they technically have to be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If the manager were hourly he would be paid 24 hours a day 7 days a week as an on call employee. No employer would do that. By the way, Sears lost in court over this very issue and converted a number of employees to salary.

Lead positions began going away in our store a couple of years ago....The SGM explained it as store annual sales falling below the minimum threshold for the number of leads required.

As store sales continued to drop, more lead positions were eliminated.

Now, no ASM's or leads will be required in that store.....because it was closed down permanently a few months ago.

@1zcw ASM's are salary. Supervisors are hourly.

@1yij There is no minimum yearly revenue to qualify for a Lead. Numerous Leads in all departments have been removed through restructuring and their responsibilities have been taken over by ASM's and supervisors.
