Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

So much for restructuring, GM can't even deliver it's layoffs on time

So much for restructuring , GM can't even deliver it's layoffs on time ? Why? Poor management and planning. Who in their right mind coming from college would even entertain a position at GM at this point? They say we want a new skill set but from my point of view this would be a major insensitive to avoid the auto industry at all costs. GM is always behind and everyone internally knows this to be true , programs with big investing have been cancelled time and time again because of lack of direction , only to confuse the people working on projects , bizzare.

If this wasn't so tragic it would have been funny. Thanks for making this point @XlwfrPM-tpv

I'll buy a new calendar and promise to follow directions , you must be one of the people that believe in GM with all of your heart and soul , a real company man.

Why do you aim to be so toxic?

Technically GM hasn't missed the time frame they gave us for the layoffs. But I find it hard to blame someone for feeling as if they are dragging it out and putting it off. They made the original announcement almost 3 months ago and little if any information has been given to us over those 3 months (regardless of if there was any useful information to share). This allows rumors and speculation to run rampant and intensify uncertainty for anyone looking for clarity. And the window of time for action to take place is a quarter of a year.

Potentially 5 months, nearly half a year of worrying about losing a job. You might think that's an acceptable and fair time frame and feel that everything is moving along smoothly and swiftly. But I find it understandable to think otherwise.

I suggest you go back and read the memo from November. It states deliver will be during the first quarter. Only 1 month into the first quarter. Maybe the projects you've been on have been late because you've been on them and failed to read directions and timing correctly. Buy a calendar before your next job.
