But seriously what do you think? Try and go up to your boss and his manger and ask for more money. They would look at you like you are crazy.

I would honestly forget about that promotion. Being retained is now the equivalency of a promotion. The last thing your director is going to do is ask for more money to pay an employee even if you have exemplary work.

OP, you are not mature enough to get a promotion. Your Director should be in the list to have chosen you for promotion.

Until you’ve been presented papers showing you your new level and pay, it can be rescinded. Even then, they can take it back and “relevel” you. Nothing is guaranteed and nothing is forever. It is irresponsible for your director to make promises like that if they in fact did.

It's quite the opposite. The fewer skills you have is reason in today's world for being promoted.

No. They are using the salary promotion money to buy more ping pong tables and ‘fish only’ microwaves.

How about showing some empathy for those that are about to lose their livelihood tomorrow instead of selfishly worrying about your promotion? If you are around after all the dust settles, which will take weeks, and in some areas even months, you may still be eligible for promotion.

Your command of the English language is weak. You're in line for a promotion?

OK.

First, just because your director put you up for promotion that does not mean you will get it. There is basically a pool of people up for promotion and only a subset get it.

Second (this is just a guess), I would believe there may be SOME promotions after the reorg which will take weeks to complete after all of the layoffs. This means the subset of people getting promotions will be even smaller than usual.

After the dust settled from the bankruptcy layoffs, promotions, transfers, and raises all went back to normal.

Probably not going to effect promotions unless you are going to level 8 in IT. From my understanding RM realizes that he hired to many level 8s and is gonna trim/slaughter that herd
