Director called me into a conference room 2 hours ago. Manager and HR were there. Had to sign a separation agreement and was given my severance package. Whole thing only took about 20 minutes. Turned in my laptop and badge and headed straight to the closest bar. Had lunch now am drinking heavily. Expect to stay here until they close. Turned off my phone. Not a good day...

I'll provide a little life lesson that I've learned over the years.
Keep your expenses in line with your significant others income and unemployment payment, and you will find yourself doing just fine when facing these situations. You can't control these companies, but you can control your lifestyle.
GM won't take care of us. Don't b as stupid as them, take care of yourself, starting with no DUI. Im pretty sure u don't want your severance going to pay $15k to the government. Especially since the gov't is pulling a lot of the strings at GM.
Of course not. I still have many other parts of my life. Just s---s having to find another job. I consider work probably 25-30% of my life, the rest is my interests, friends, family, etc. The 25-30% is in tatters now though....and have to replace that. I'm not distraught, just disappointed. Was a mechanical engineer (DRE) at WTC and tried to stay in the middle of the pack in order not to get a target on my back (not an real high salary, stayed as a middle-of-the-pack performer, etc.) Didn't work out though.

Seriously, it’s not the end of the world. Stuff happens and it’s all about getting past it. Please don’t drink and drive and have another thing to worry about. It’s one thing to get arrested and have a dui on your record. It’s another when you could be putting someone else’s life and even yours in jeapordy. Please be safe and best wishes.

Wasn't drinking before I got here. Will worry about the details later....drunk driving is not on my things-to-worry-most-about list right now. Will cross that bridge when it comes.

Dude don't drink and drive. Call and uber and leave the car there if you need to. Between paying $200 for a tow ticket and $10k for a DUI it's an obvious choice.
