Is @CRP in my garage?

You nailed my feelings too, Verizon 2.0 seems like the company is being nice to us pretty much cuz the 5G is what they want, even copper garages I hear are being treated with kindness. It is bizarre, as if they just want customers to say the he'll with Verizon copper and fios, go to Comcast (because they know Comcast treats long term customers like they are dirt, and then they can win them back with 5G). I see a mass exodus in August 2023 and a lousy contract so make your money now.

Man do you reek of delusional self-importance @1afh. What color’s the sky in your world? In your world, you are a King! no doubt.

chuckle.

The day after you’re gone, the people doing the work will still be doing the work. Don’t let the door hit you in the butt oh so important one. The graveyards are chuck full of indispensable people. If you are deemed in need of replacement, another bureaucratic chair-filler will be there the day after you’re gone. Were you also worried about how the Beatle’s would collapse after Pete Best was gotten rid of?

BTW, why answer your own post? Trying to add credibility to an untenable point of view? Very transparent.

Xrh...I am seeing a lot of panic setting in because people are realizing the remaining VSPers are leaving in 2 months have a lot of the knowledge they need to move these new projects along. My director told me the company is hoping a lot of the VSPers will come back as contractors in 6 months to bail them out of the sh-- storm they are about to encounter. That is a risky roll of the dice in my opinion, but it won’t be my problem once I cut ties with this insanity.

@YP5xiba-xrh, you’re confusing managers with craft. As long as the same craft people are in place, the next “disaster” will be handled, perhaps handles better without redundant levels of needless bureaucracy.

In the aftermath of the last storm, myself and another fellow were within one hour of restoring 20 people back onto service when the boss pulled us away to instead fix one trouble 20 miles away, in a more upscale town. Because of that, 20 individuals who had been waiting longer waited one more day for restoration. My boss was a terrible decision maker. While we made gobs of money because of this individuals need to micromanage, combine with his limited ability to rationally reason, it was bothersome to witness p-ss-d away opportunities.

The new bosses appear to have more faith in those who are actually in the field witnessing events, at least if you’ve proven yourself to have a record of honesty and skill, so this is a step in the right direction. Some of the dinosaurs that were here were just trying to get things off their desk, and were just trying to stop the phone calls so, even if a decision made little sense, or just served to silence the phone calls from above, that way was often an easier alternative to doing what was right for the business and the customer.

I did not take the VSP and was moved into a new position. The work was done previously by someone who was in a higher pay band but I get the pleasure of staying at my current band. What is unknown is the notice I am putting in tomorrow for a position for what my education is for. Thanks for the experience and paying for the education. I am leaving after 6 years with no need to look at this place with any respect.

@YP5xiba-jhb. Was there a clause in the 2003 VSP similar to the current one where VSPers are not allowed back? Some type of disaster is coming and I just don't see how wireline can operate with what the original poster stated (lower paid contractors and limited replacement).

In my wireless group, we are seeing one for one replacements as well as many promotions during the VSP. The loss of talent who left or are leaving has been so disruptive to the business; people don't seem to know who does what anymore and folks staying don't seem to care or have a level of ownership which existed prior.

VSP is a fair corporate practice. RIFs are not a good practice. IT employees rebadged to Infosys is not a fair practice.

VZ corporate executives cannot gauge the value of employees, criterion or criteria, based on biases and lack of objectivity.

The VSP is not a new idea. It happen before in 2003 and the corporation survived.

From the corporation's perspective it is good business. The folks that left, voluntarily, had many weeks of vacation each year, were older so they started to have more medical expenses than when they were younger and they may have become less likely to adapt changes.

Yes, I was one that volunteered.

Was that not their plan? If they replaced us with employees making the same money, what would be the point?
