For the one that asked where is GM hiring back, just look on the GM hiring site for specific jobs. I've also received a few notifications through Glassdoor and LinkedIn.

GM is hiring back but if you had been there a while, don't expect your same salary, vacation, and a continuation of your pension or extra contributions to your 401K as a result of freezing the pension...such expenses are the reason GM got rid of employees.

You know I have been asking myself through all of this , honestly who in their right mind would want to work for GM at this point? If I was a young kid looking for a career GM wouldn't be my first option. How are they going to attract people if there's no job security? It just seems like a waste of time to work for GM , the way they treat people , Every time you turn around they are firing people or closing a facility , it's always alot of drama and no wonder why people can't get anything done. Always wondering if you will be fired in a year or five years , very unhealthy way to live.
Because of the scandal of this layoff, I won't work in GM anymore except they punish some responsible.

It's not in a large scale. More layoffs are coming end of summer.

People are being re-hired. People that were laid off, canned, let go, rightsized, or whatever term you happen to prefer, were being hired by GM in February, in March, in April, and now in May. External postings have been increasing in number, as HR now thinks that the media has calmed down enough to be past the public relations sting that comes with actively re-hiring people

Only the college hires laid off as cover for laying off the older people are getting rehired.
