Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

There are too many head at the district and regional level

You cannot dispute that there are too many head at the district and regional level. In my region they have left and have just not been replaced. There has been "realignment" of ASM's and the move to all store leadership expect SM to hourly. It seems pretty clear from my time with Bed Bath that the ASM' will feel it at some point. The clear path to me is to cut FT jobs as many of them have been around for 15+ yrs and are paid much more than the DS that they are now bringing in.

Store leadership is going to have to be the focus going forward as DM and RM jobs leave more with fall to us. We have to keep our heads up and do our best to protect our employees and customers. Be the change in your store, make a difference with each associate, make good decisions on merchandising and you'll keep your job.

Well said, @Yhiwtd2-agd.

@@YiVtgqI-mepz - I was talking about service: SH. I know that SH would reach out to SD to answer some of our ops questions if you are talking about NE region. (or if she didn't understand why we did things a certain way)

@YiVtgqI-ludp Sounds like you’re talking about SD, the former regional ops in a NE region. She’s a tremendous loss for the stores. In fact, the only one in district or regional management in our area who sat down to eat with store staff in the break room, the only one who knew everyone’s name, and would actually go up to cashiers and floor associates alike to thank them for the job they were doing. We’re not going to see a manager of that caliber again.

Not good changes. we lost someone who actually helped us, and made sure she got answers for us even when it wasn't "her area". nobody was worried when she walked into the store because we always knew she was going to help us, not beat us up. She always showed us how to do things, and helped us - even if you had more time with the company she always managed to show something new.

No more layoffs are planned. It was all coordinated to happen in one “ bloody” fell swoop!!

And there you go, 40 people layed off at the regional and district level last night. Good changes for the most part but there is still to much "middle management"
