We've needed a soft lines supervisor for nine months ever since our last one just ghosted us & walked out. As far as I know nobody has applied or if anybody did apply and was interviewed, they didn't accept the job. Rumor is that the supervisor position pays about $1.50 over minimum wage Gee, I wonder why nobody has bitten - you could sell appliances and make a little more and not have the stress of doing all the manager tasks, or you could go work somewhere else as a manager and earn probably double of what Sears would pay. We only have three soft lines cashiers total, all part time - ask me how I know - I work in appliances but end up over there in soft lines quite a bit because it seems like the well has started to run dry with applicants. Lord help us if a shoe drops and one of them decides to quit, then we are in real trouble. it really is that bad, our store is held together with duct tape and running on a prayer. Tools has to help with MPU work since there's not enough people there too -- tools has a couple of college kids so they fill in for MPU and do the web orders and truck unloading. I think our MPU is down to two associates now. We really don't have departments anymore since we do everything, so you're selling a fridge one minute, folding shirts another minute, and selling a lawnmower the next. I haven't seen a new face in months. We have a card table at each entrance with "Now Hiring" pamphlets and a "Sears Hiring Now" banner draped on the front of our store. The only thing is -- our store manager does not seem to be willing to join us and help. I've seen him walk past the cashwrap knowing full well that there is a line with only one person running the register. What a shame. Store managers can't be that busy to ignore customers and leave their associates without help. I see employees with manager titles on their badges ringing up people and helping customers at other stores all the time. It is disappointing for the manager not to be willing to step it up and help out, knowing full well we don't have the people.

They will make you a manager so you feel important and good about yourself then make you do more work such as the positions they can’t fill.
If sears and Kmart can’t compete with the big boys, Walmart target Lowe’s etc it’s time to shut them all down!
To not even try to raise the starting wage shows how they do not care about their employees
Stores are dead dreary and downright depressing
Management has become toxic and has taken any enjoyment out of the job that was once there
Nobody is benefiting from working at these two places except Eddie and PAL leena
It’s way past time for the final curtain to come down!

The 'goofy one' is the person who is not an employee of Sears/Kmart yet wastes their time posting on a Sears/Kmart forum.
OP @YrNSeyY
And with all the problems you outline you "continue" to stay an employee!!
Whose the goofy one ? It certainly isn't SHC management as they know how to exploit current employees by throwing out itsy-bitsy pieces of hope.
How does it feel to be taken for a ride through the rear end and not even experience the result ( interpret at your leisure ) 😖😖😖😖
With all of the places around paying above minimum wage and even offering benefits like health insurance to part timers , it's going to be quite the difficult sale to convince someone to work there. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get rid of the full timers here soon, so they won't have to pay benefits. I remember reading an article about a month ago that with the new store concept they will run with a low staff.
When every other business around is starting at $1 more than minimum wage and others starting even higher, it would be almost impossible for Sears/Kmart to get anyone to work for less pay, less hours and more work. And then if they continue to make it a company policy of no raises, then there is no incentive for anyone to do more work or put out any effort to improve.
They pretty much will make you a supervisor but not give you enough pay but more than willing to pile on the responsibilities where you do the work of at least three people.
