Support VP DD RIFed too. Good riddance, she was incompetent. Worked in concert with AK to decimate the only innovation team that Support had. Karma is a b****.

He was the last worthy director in Marketing, except Sally, because she actually has a brain, even though MM doesn't let her make any decisions. Every other director, snr director, VP in marketing, including the CMO are all useless. Dead wood. They should all have been fired long ago.

SE was a Director, nitwit.

Juniper Marketing knows how to get rid of the best.

The Directors and VPs in marketing must feel threatened by smart people who get stuff done, because they always manage to cut the best.

SE was very good, mind boggling why let him go

Let’s see some names. I’ll start. SE (his initials, not system engineer) in Security Marketing. He’s very good. I’m sure he’ll find his way soon to a competitor. Congratulations in advance on the double-dipping. Well done. I have no idea why other than nothing would surprise with MB as the boss.

Who else? No way MM. He’s been glowing for 10 days post UVA win. I actually didn’t know it was possible for him to beam even more than he usually does. That’s the definition of a marketer.

Who are GTM sales and Marketing leads for BTI and packet optical?

Did they both fail doing their jobs?

About BTI, just look at who was the GTM sales knucklehead leading it. No surprise that it failed. Juniper acquiring BTI in the first place was also a bad strategic move. Sorry to say it, but the GTM head leading BTI deserves to get laid off. The PS guys did not. I worked with several of the PS guys that got laid off over the years and they were solid performers. Very big loss for PS and Juniper.

@YvgolOY-1bvq Great write up.

I'm at another (highly perceived) company and I can tell you they act in the reverse.

They constantly/relentlessly communicate, reassess, educate/train its employees and clients on a daily/weekly basis. Communication is absolutely efficient and that has lent to tremendous execution (and reflected in the stock price) and lightning level pivoting where necessary. No surprises here as nobody or product can hide.

Culture is everything!

BTI was a strategic acquisition (like everything else), but they didn't anticipate fierce competition from Ciena, Nokia and Arista, because Juniper has no foresight. As someone working in PO, we never understood why we were literally creating equipment that was either 3 years behind competition or 5 years ahead of it's time. NO ONE WANTED TO BUY IT - NO ONE.

This lack of foresight (with respect to Packet Optical) is due to: GTM lacks experience, SE lacks expertise, Marketing cannot translate technology. Poor translation leads to confusing message. Tier 1 customers already have a large footprint with industry leading vendors so they can't be swayed by the likes of Juniper when Juniper doesn't know internally which direction they should be headed. Add to that further hiring issues with the likes of PPA, etc, it all boils down to Sales inability to sell anything other than legacy Juniper gear.

BTI was going to close doors anyways without an acquisition because they couldn't stay afloat. They had done themselves in with poor execution and lost two Tier 1 customers within months. Another customer stopped expanding. The regional customers, albeit global, weren't enough to keep doors open and turn a significant profit - the company was built on VC.

Juniper completely ruined BTI due to lack of knowledge and experience in Optical space.

Was the BTI acquisition a mistake? Juniper paid money for BTI and if they are shutting it down, it means the investment yielded a 100% loss.

Packet Optical, and legacy BTI by extension, is effectively shutdown. Juniper is divesting from PO. All new products in the pipeline including Sevilla, Attella and Capella are sc-aped.

For those laid off, if you believe and have evidence you were wrongfully terminated or experienced age discrimination, seek legal advice and take action.

There'll be more layoffs in May based on other chatter.

Doesn't anyone who's employed and NOT actively looking know the true score of what's going on? Layoffs are every 3 months for crissakes (not counting the monthly stealth layoffs)!

To those laid off, my sincere condolences. DO NOT give up! You WILL find employment! The economy is strong. Companies ARE hiring!

Count this as a "lemons to lemonade" blessing, as your next job will likely be with a vastly superior company with better total comp and RSUs that actually go (way) UP!

Good luck and God bless!

P.S. @YvgolOY-1vqa . What "shockers" are you referring to?

Confirmed. A friend in PS just called with the news along with some harsh words about account teams. Any other groups besides PS and marketing?
