The culture has certainly changed at Ford

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect a lifetime job just because you show up most days. But if you’re willing to give them 110%, keep current skills and give consistent results while being a positive force you shouldn’t have to worry about losing your job. I know, those days are gone.

It’s sad. I always respected how ford employees were so devoted to the company. They bleed blue and never had any complaints about their work or the company. Those days are also gone. I suppose they finally got the culture change they were after.

Agree things have changed. When I hired in years ago - what a job!! I believe the main cause is new technology & China kicking butt. Jack Ma is proud of his people working 996 (9:00 am till pm - 6 days a week). How do you compete with that! Mark Over at FB thinks you’re a Zombie at 35. Automobiles like it or not won’t go away and are much more complex than web sites. We are in a down cycle - blame bad politics. Stand tall to American values. My opinion.

There are d-bags in every generation! And there are sane and responsible minds in every generation.

A generation of spineless parental gen people made millennials what they are now! And a generation of incompetent, liberal grandparental gen raised this generation of spineless liberal parental generation. It all trickled down. Just to remind, the lawmakers, CEOs, politicians, and all these corrupted corporations.... they're the older generation mind you!

Millenials think Corktown is a hip place to live. That will change once they check the schools their kids will go to.

@2ilq - ah to be young and naive again. Been there done that. Problem one, horrific insurance rates - so much so that we got rid of second car. Problem two, crime. Within one year over 10k in property stolen. Problem three, services which became more and more important. Problem four attitude and demeanor of the local - very hard edged and what’s in it for me. Problem five schools, when first child entered school we moved back to suburbs.

All the while Detroit was taking part of our salaries in taxes, and mostly just lining corrupt pockets with it.

I think it would great! Suburbs are boring, plus nothing but road construction.

I heard the New Center is thriving, many places to go and things to do, plus my drive to work would be shorter.

Anyone wanting to work at the Train Station likely doesn't realize that it will come with a pay reduction due to your pay check getting hit with Detroit city taxes. I know a lot of people are under some strange belief that Ford was going to subsidize the hit. Nope. Ask the people at the Corktown location. Basically a tax for the privilege of the location. Also, who wants to deal with the traffic mess of trying to get in and out of Detroit.

Somebody in a prior thread is actually looking forward in working at Central Station, anyone know what departments or business units will be transferring?

Good luck to recruiting for the new Train Station. Who in their right mind would look to work there?
