Breaking news: Oracle loses

To nobody’s surprise, the Federal Claims Court judge dismissed Oracle’s complaint on the Jedi cloud contract, allowing Pentagon to announce the winner as early as next month. Hint: the winner won’t be oracle! Eat your heart out LE - now the whole world knows that oracle cloud is c-ap.

I am fairly certain the single vendor concern would not be raise do by, say, Google or Oracle, if the had been selected as the single vendor. And vendor lock-in has always been a design feature, whether you look at Oracle’s DB or apps.

What Amazon and the DoD did and how they did it was suuper shady – read the story if you haven't. I for one am glad Oracle stood up to them, even if it was just to selfishly gain market share. Also, it's worth noting all major tech companies (Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Google.. to name a few) agreed that a single cloud vendor is the worst idea ever. The whole point of going cloud vs. traditional is to have freedom from lock in - something the pentagon will not have as a direct result of choosing one vendor. Regardless of which company wins JEDI our government is once again locking into an already outdated way of doing business. Mazel tov.

It's good to be king cruising to Amalfi but trying to make all others fail will backfire in the medium term. Who wants to be a new customer of an LE inspired company? Customers first means first sued.

Legal team and outside counsel better do something to get LE a piece of JEDI for his birthday or he@ds will roll when the Med cruise with pack and play is over.

Even better than appealing use ‘Rubio’

Rubio to the rescue?
However on Thursday, US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) sent a letter asking National Security Adviser John Bolton to delay the decision. His letter points out that the Office of Management and Budget's Cloud Smart strategy directs government agencies to contract with multiple cloud service providers, which is common practice in the private sector.

"Our warfighters deserve the best capability possible and the taxpayers deserve the best value possible," the letter says. "Unfortunately, moving forward with the current JEDI procurement will not further that goal."

Oracle chairman Larry Ellison has given millions of dollars to support Marco Rubio
