Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Anyone heard about club closures at certain locations?

Don’t have any info about this, so It’s not my intention to spread panic. At my club the headcount has been reduced and my colleagues are talking about the possibility that our club could close. On top of that, I have a friend who works at a club in a different state and the same thing happened at his club. I’m getting really worried. Did anyone heard about potential club closures lately?

This company won't ever tell us. History has shown that. Driven by technology not people now. HO, Regionals, market managers all act like little bots now. They don't care what employees actually think. This is just part of the second phase of transfer over towards complete automation.
You enjoy working with people, seriously, get out as soon as you can. It will continue to take your soul & any care you might have for other human beings. It's not part of Sam's current model.

They are scrambling around to hire bodies. Hiring fairs are a joke. The people who they are hiring have no clue what to do and no one has time to train them. I just wish someone somewhere would see how much they screwed up. Good people really are hard to find and they just lost a lot of good people. Make home office do what we now need to do for our club just to be open. just sayin

Last year when I was telling my manager that I was worried about departments being eliminated and that something didn't feel right, my manager told me that I was being worried for nothing and I was buying into conspiracy theories. A month later they closed 60something clubs nationwide.
Anyhow, who knows. If you guys are really short on associates and they aren't hiring enough to fill the gap, you might have a reason to be concerned. I wouldn't worry myself to death about it, though. Dead men earn no money...anywhere. Try to find a new job if this is messing with your mind too much. No job paying an average of $11.50 an hour is worth having a stroke over. No job is worth that, really.
