Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM + RHT = ?

As I anxiously await the master plan to emerge post acquisition. I ponder if Red Hat disappears tomorrow, what will happen to the cloud ... Nothing. If IBM disappears tomorrow, what will happen to the cloud ... Nothing.

Now then, how does the union of these two companies become the new growth to extricate us from the abyss?

The entire strategy behind the RH acquisition can be summed up as:
1) Acknowledge that most enterprises run applications across multiple clouds as well as on prem.
2) Acknowledge that the current architectural approach to scalability and portability is to use containers with container orchestrators (e.g., Docker + K8).
3) ??????????????????????????
4) Profit.

An article from 2018 November after the announcement that Big Blue was buying RedHat: presumably now that the deal has closed, the big boys are still shrugging.

Ginni keeps saying support services will grow now due to this acquisition, not shrink.
What exactly falls under legacy? I keep hearing legacy will take a hit.

1fdl. You have hit the nail on the head. IBM’s purchase of Redhat was to assimilate them and let them be their ”raison d’etre”. Old IBM will fade away at warp speed as Redhat grows

IBM + RHT = RHT
take a look at all the new Red Hat roles advertised by GTS. Red Hat going to thrive with all the new business that IBM is going to bring in and hence increase in margins.
