Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Why is it being handled differently this time?

In the last round of layoffs director and MM2 furloughed in seniority order.

Multiple CDL/DOT qualified members held support track jobs but were furloughed anyway!

Why is it being handled differently this time?

And pay $1500-$2000/month for insurance and they make less. It’s a personal decision and isn’t any of your business why someone chooses to stay. Why do you care anyway? Maybe they don’t live in a trailer park, have a summer and a winter home and want to make the most of their retirement or their estate for their kids. It doesn’t matter. It’s their choice.

Most that stay past eligibility do so for the insurance. Especially if they have younger wives.

I never understand why people who are eligible to retire just keep hanging around. And most of them are always complaining about the conditions too. We had a coworker who retired and actually takes home more per month on retirement with the two tiers.

At our shop employees who are eligible to retire are being pulled out of service, told they have to resubmit their medical records due to Omaha losing them, then they have to see the company doctor who then deems not fit to work.

Management is definitely tired of us not doing our jobs, wish I would have worked while I was employed and got my CDL! I'm so sad, sad, sad, gosh darn it!!!

Three different paragraphs from three different parts of the Union agreement are being used together to create a situation that suits the managements goals.
