Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Non-PI audits are an even bigger headache with day stocking

Meat and Prepared Foods Leads know how difficult it was just to come in once a week to organize freezer cooler so their product stayed consolidated on one pallet each (DC has gone to the dumps and build pallets like trash piles).

Now that everything is just being thrown in the freezers at night, doing a complete category audit is an absolute pain in the behind.

Let us order our own product and make Bakery use their own freezer!

If your bakery and meat departments aren't hard to run, you must live in a small rinky dink country bumpkin area.

Large metropolitan areas place a huge demand on fresh.

And this post doesn't sound like it's complaining at all. Just pointing something oit.

I love all the fresh people posting how hard your job is. I've worked in Produce, Meat and Bakery, it wasn't hard at all. Produce was just keeping product out and pulling boxes, meat was just cutting in our room in our own little world. Occasionally you interact with members with questions about cuts/meals/etc. And get chickens going. I left because I was enticed to become a front end supervisor and you people in fresh have no clue what hell is until you work on the frontend. Seven months later a bakery position opened up and I jumped at the chance to go back to fresh. Now I clock in, bake/wrap my little heart out as I listen to music and barely deal with members.

So yeah, you can sit here and type out how "hard" fresh is, but those of us that have worked in other areas know it's nothing but bs.

Valid points made by several people. Sad truth is as a company Sam's no longer values its hourly associates. Be it $11 or $25. All remaining associates are being asked to do too much and sacrifice family/ work balance with these impractical schedules. Nobody wins. And when everyone least expects it they'll shut the clubs down without a backwards glance as long as the majority shareholders benefit. It is just business but they dont have to be so heartless.

As a fresh lead I can tell you most of us more than earn what we make. We have the most departments that actually HAVE to face the shoppers who walk in. We have to maintain food costs and explain when our areas are short in sales. Why are we short in sales? Because we don't have associates either. A lot of us end up as glorified associates doing what are all the associate should be doing and we still have to do all of our extra duties that we are suddenly getting paid for. We suddenly have weeds of other areas wanting our jobs but they can't do our job because they don't want to work that hard. They want it because of how much it pays not because they care about the job. I can tell you we feel the crunch of this s*** as much as any other area of the store and BECAUSE there is so much focus on us, again MOST of us are working 50+ hours and underscheduled by over 100 hours in our department. This great pay raise is a joke.

Look at you guys down each other’s throats like a pack of wolves. No worries about workers coming together here.

NOBODY asked you to comment here in the first place. If you aren't a lead, why run to this post whining about what leads get paid?

Do unemployed people jump into your conversations randomly and say "stop whining at least you have a job!!!"

Nobody said you didn't deserve the raises as fresh lead. They were simply saying that since the company is focused on that and you yourselves make sure everyone knows how much you do there should be no complaints about amount of work. Everyone wanted to knock the veteran partners making $20+ dollars who had invested nearly as many yrs. But now that most are gone and the clubs are staffed with leads averaging 1- 7 yrs of experience you act like the $22 is an entitlement and no one should say a word about these new pay changes. Get over yourselves.

What kind of loser do you have to be to complain about what someone else is getting paid?

People at companies like Walgreens WISH they could get paid what the people greeters and lot guys make at Sam's.

Be grateful for what you have and work harder to make more if you aren't satisfied. But dont be salty at team leads because they had the right job at the right time.

All these people speaking up and think fresh don't deserve their pay or do a lot.... You are just showing how naive you are. You obviously do not know what you're talking about. You have no clue what's going on in those departments. If you did then you'd be singing a different tune. When you speak out of ignorance you just show everyone how stupid you are.

You make the big bucks....$22 + an hour. Figure it out. You're being paid more because you supposedly do more. Earn your money.

Everyone wants to work in fresh. Until they do. Then they don't. Good God.

I really try and keep those freezer loads organized but when no one else is working it or leave a mess prepare for 3 wide 12 deep.
