Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

If they actually wanted to know the truth

If they really want to know what clubs look like in reality they need to stop informing the managers when they are going to be visiting and touring clubs. They could also put cameras in the mgrs office and monitor them and see how ridiculous it is that 2 to 3 managers sit in the office all day and absolutely do nothing.

No one is allowed in the office areas, including managers. Our CM wants managers on the floor, they use the computer at Membership Desk or Receiving. No chairs in Fresh Office, no COS Podium they use BYOD. AP/GCCM actually tells GM how long going to be in office area or works on their off time. All communication is through the PlanIt app or BYOD for email. CM has more than 15 notes everyday in the PlanIt app, she is walking the floor from the time she get there to the time she leaves. She answers phone calls and manager calls. She is tough but our Club is in good shape.

I feel for you guys that do not have a strong management team, ours is tough but fair, they will stand up for what is right, but if you are wrong they will hold you accountable.

WE have issues with not being fully staffed but we all work together, managers included, to get things done.

Dig down, decide if you want to stay with Sam's, either leave or be a team player and let's see if we can help fix this mess, associates and managers alike.

Managers aren’t supposed to do your f—ing job for you! Why and the hell does everyone think it’s funny when we get in trouble. It’s just as much a reflection on you as it is us. Grow the f— up and take care of your area. Stop your whinnying and management bashing you would get more done. There’s no other company that coddles their hourly than Sam’s. If you go to work for any other company you don’t see management in the trenches working like a hourly. Other companies do your f—ing job or fo home, that’s the difference between union and non union jobs.

For any complaints call the open door not MM tried that. Open door investigates and spesks to management and they lie and cover for each other so its a no win situation. So we as associates have to put up with all they do and the rules they apply to certain people and not the managements favorites. They can do no wrong! They are the pets

Cameras just made them find a new place to be outside of tire shop or outside period or some where where the cameras are not. They are wise and dont want to get caught. How do you fix managers not responding when they are needed for a member and not say can I call you or what do they need or no response at all? How do you fix them all having lunch with all the leads and other managers and no one responds to calls

I worked in one of the stores in Minnesota for six months back in 2008 and in normal cases, no one - from the GM on down - had any idea when someone from the market team or higher was going to be coming in. What made it possible was that several of these individuals would just come in dressed in street clothes, grab a cart or flatbed, and either shop or make it look like they were shopping. For this reason, we literally had to have that store ready for an actual walk every single day. Believe it or not, in those days - with what seems like an army compared to what they have to do it now - it wasn't that difficult. When high expectations are the absolute norm and always in practice, no one is ever unprepared. That really can't happen anymore because there just aren't enough people available or on the clock to accomplish and maintain that kind of goal.

Recent AP teams have placed cameras in all offices. Receiving, manager, marketing.

Glad we don't have that problem in our store. None of our managers smoke and none sit in the office. But dealing with one is like dealing with a snapping turtle. Don't tell them they have a phone call, I don't care who it is, and don't tell them a member wants to talk to them or you'll get bit.

I agree they need to not tell managers when they are coming as that is the only time managers are on the floor. You call them on the walkie and get no response.
Reason why I left Sams club no management skills by management. Rules apply to some but not all and its sad that Sams club management gets away with it. All managers cover for each other so its your word against them. So even if you open door anything you still do not have a fair shot with what truely goes on in some clubs because they cover for each other as they dont want corporate to know what they do or how they treat some of the associates. Im not saying all managers are like this as I am sure some are grest managers but the ones at my club do this and its sad. They should all be investigated.

Wow, its funny that a lot of clubs seem to be in the same boat with management sitting in the office doing nothing. Our club managers along with the leads call each other on the walkies asking what's for lunch and a lead goes and gets them all lunch and after that hour lunch its smoke break time. Thats how our management team and team lesds are.
