Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Why are people quitting?

Why give management exactly what they want? It's only been a few months - why are so many willing to give up so quickly?

Easy. This is why.

Because it’s exhausting, physically, mentally and financially to stay. There is no incentive to stay, just more to do with less to do it with.

Managers make you apply some policies to some associates and others dont have to follow any policies or rules and the favoritism is not ok.
Everyone should have to follow the same rules. The pets get away with everything.

Market managers direction, at least here in CA, is no long term associates for leadership positions. They are bypassing/eliminating the best, knowledgeable associates and managers for the less knowledgeable, less paid. They are and will be paying for this going forward. Already shockingly evident. Never ending revolving door of people

Because the company s—s and it's only getting worse. I'm not going to be their guinea pig for experiments that any normal person can see will be a disaster. I would rather enjoy the life I have left.

Lets see why people would quit. The fact that they worry if their position will be eliminated everyday, the constant “fear” that their market manager will show up, the fact that this company makes it more appealing for new associates wage wise while the associates who have been there for years get nothing but their whopping 2%, maybe that they’re forced to do the job of 5 other associates and don’t get a thank you, or maybe that they have a family that they actually want to spend time with. The list goes on and on why people are quitting. Let me tell you all something, life is definitely better outside the club.

Agree on all accounts.

This week, at our club, they hired several outsiders for team leads and full time positions, bypassing associates who stayed with this company through this disaster. Makes no sense. There were a bunch of associate who applied for these jobs. How can they say that NOT ONE OF THEM deserved one of those jobs. Really was unbelievable. Everyone in the store is talking about it.

For myself, it’s a realization that there no future here. 2% raises past insulting to laughable, cost of living is higher than that so you actually go backwards every year. Hours are always getting cut, effecting the annual income and PTO time. They’ve reduced the amount of PTO time you can accrue in an effort to eliminate paying out each year. If you been around for more than a couple of years, you’ve gained pto and sick time under the old system that, let’s face it, it’s all but impossible for anyone to ever actually use. The company is doing everything possible to consolidate jobs to eliminate staff and drive away the longtime employees that built this company. And if they ever caught wind of anyone trying to unite employees, they would shut that store down quicker than you could blink.

Because people have a life to live and enjoy. Who wants to get into a battle of wits with a corporation when they could be living their best life earning more money, in a healthier more nurturing environment?
