Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Calling off is hurting your coworkers more than the company

We know you don't like the changes. None of us really do.

So out of spite, you call off excessively to send some type of message. So the people who were in the trenches with you suffer and the company only loses a couple thousand bucks a day in sales due to productivity.

I have no problem what so ever with those who like to call off. Since I make over $30 an hour on overtime they can do as they please. I still get the days and weeks I want off.

I personally do not support those who call off frequently unless I absolutely have to.

I job shared with an associate who had a history of calling in "gone" three times a month, and was late multiple times a month. I on the other hand used one "gone" day in 13 months, partially due to the fact that management would not honor a time off request made months prior to my absence. Guess who they selected for their future? good luck. I might mention that this person would log in and do laps around the club, informing each manager that she was doing a task unrelated to the manager who was asking where she was working. Good scam, if you can get it

I am with the associate talking about all their sick time that is now in “A BUCKET “. That you can never use on yourself . It has to be used on a family member and that is only if you are out of your PTO hours . Before those hrs went into a bucket people in the whole company wide were calling in like crazy .And the company did nothing to anyone calling in . I remember complaining ( as I never call in ) to upper management and they literally just shrug their shoulders .

So cheers to those ones that use their PROTECTED PTO . Before we lose time again to a bucket 🍻

Don't care. Before we went to this PTO stuff I never called in. 192 sick hours that I'll never get to use. I was effed out of all that time. I'm only in it for me now.

The hard truth is. Stop counting on people when your paycheck only has your name on it. And not there’s . There well aware of the reprocussions of there actions. Then again you never know what someone’s goin threw just because you don’t see them! And bet you say. Well they say they gon call off. Back to there check not yours ( vise versus).

That argument can go both ways. I could argue the company "wants" us to call off until those of us who are bitter terminate ourselves via the point system.

At the end of the day, it seems selfish and short sighted to multiply the workload on your coworkers they didn't make these company changes that you hate so much. Meanwhile, many of you are going to end up wishing you still had this retail job that pays better than most entry level positions with minimal qualifications. To each their own I guess

We don't care anymore. I'm going to call out whenever I want, use my PTO and collect my paycheck until I find something else. I have to deal with it when other people call out so they are going to do the same when I do it.

You are right and I used to have the same mindest. Until, I realized, thats exactly the type of pressure this company looks to impose on hard working associates rather than deal with their real issues.
Still works. Sad...
