Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What is the rule on employees dating?

Is it actually true that managers and supervisors can't date people beneath them or is it just generally looked down on?

Looking for an actually policy, I don't see it at all

So is there a written policy regarding this? My daughter works as a Manager at Sam’s - previously was an associate and recently promoted to Manager. She has worked at Sam’s for almost 18 years. In 2020 she was “seeing” her manager. This ended back in 2021 (playa) - at this time she was an associate. A staff that knew about her and this manager, whose daughter now supervises has threatened to go to the club manager to report this. This girl is in the cue for termination and is angry that my daughter did not give permission for this girls boyfriend to leave early.
As her mother, I’m freaking out for her - she’s a single mom raising 4 kiddos and losing this job will be devastating to her.
Correct, she should NOT have had a relationship with her manager and she also should not have confided in her friend whom is now turning on her. I get it but is there an actual policy?

But, guys, they just changed the label for everyone and made them Merch. It's actually funny, I'm a Merch Lead and I recently started dating a fellow employee who was directly under me, but he was given the evening Receiving position, so we're somewhat the same rank now. Frankly, as long as you both are mature adults, like me and my boyfriend are, you should be fine. My boyfriend and I know that when we're at work, we're to be focused on work, and that's what we do.

There is no policy on fraternization located on the Wire. Look for it, I dare you.

Just be careful because today's romance can be tomorrow's s-xual harassment.

Employee Dating is done like like any other perishable . Place the new employees on the shelf behind the older ones as the older one are the ones that need to go first.

Glad someone brought this up, I wasn’t sure what’s the policy either.
On a side note, do not try to pollute this thread with gossips about your own manager, helps no one and can get you on the website’s blacklist. Just saying cause I’ve seen threads like this ending up badly. Someone asks a general question, than some smart a– tries to use it for personal vendetta. Next thing, as slander and personal identifiers are not allowed. a bunch of posts and sometimes even the whole thread gets nuked. Btw, when they (admins) put you on a blacklist, they don’t just block your IP, they nuke all your previous posts as well.

Happens all the time in our club with leads, never seen it with a manager though. The two parties made sure to work in separate areas. It's never cause a problem.

Look at gm’s and higher ups. Seems they all met their matches through the company. Especially the higher paid execs. If you check spouses work history, you will see the connection. This is common practice with the company.

To add to the first reply: It is a HUGE Ethics issue. Someone would have to be transferred to another Club...and only if you approach Market and say something like, "I'm developing feelings for so and so" and you never say "we are already dating" (even though it may be obvious to Market that that's what you mean). I heard of a couple like that who is now married but they addressed the workplace issue before things got too hairy. If anyone at the club knows that you two are already dating then you can probably hang it up for your "career" at Sam's. If it's not dealt with properly (transfer) then the senior associate is the one to get dismissed (probably). Tread carefully; written policy or no written policy.

This is true. Management isn't allowed to date anyone and leads can not date anyone directly under them. If someone is an electronics lead they could date someone that works in grocery, but no someone in photo.
