Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The next Sears Closing's

I believe these three locations Willowbrook Mall Staten Island Mall, Exton Square Mall, the ones in Florida and California are just the beginning of a long term liquidation spiral that is going to occur in the next few months. At first, I thought when Eddie Lampert bought the company for 5.2 Billion Dollars and saved 425 Stores and 45,000 jobs. However, it seems that he is looking not to acquire leases which the old sears had in place for the landlords. He is also looking to s— the money out of the company even if it means to close more Kmart and Sears locations. Do yourself a favor and get out while you can because eventually, the company is going to screw over the remaining employee's left at the company remaining Sears and Kmart locations

Sears has already closed a number of stores in prime locations.

Flagship status for a handful of stores will not be worth a thing when the entire company goes belly up.

Flagship status only means 'best of the worst" in a floundering company.

@2dei They can negotiate right up to the last minute. There's plenty of time left for Northridge to negotiate.

The Northridge date is next year January 31, 2020. I fully expect them to come to an agreement. The Northridge location is one of the premier store locations for Sears for not only location, metro Los Angeles, but also for sales and visibility. It is an anchor for the Northridge Fashion Center. It is the "company" store for Sears on the whole west coast.

I can't find any new California Sears location. What location are you talking about or is it just fake news?

I didn’t hear of the CA and FL stores closing. Which locations are these?

Every single store closed so far by Transform has been a leased store. They’re axing leases, but owned stores (especially those with no residual RE value) are safe.

Eddie can’t leach any more money out at this point, because he owes Citi $2.2 billion against future earnings. Closing stores won’t make that up, and if the company does go under again Citi will get all of the RE and money that comes from the liquidation.
