Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Signmakers, one year later.

So its been over a year since the final wave of sign maker layoffs. I'm curious...What has happened? Did it save any money? How are signs being made and who is doing it?

WTF happened to the "beam team"? They came to our region after signmakers left and made a bunch of measurements then we never heard from them again.

The sad thing is that the breakfast taco message was already used. It's a recycled marketing message. We had the same poster up last year. In prep foods we were wondering why the hell people were suddenly asking for these. We asked the SSS to take the poster down. She replaced it with some other ridiculously worded poster about pies.

Customer: Hi, I'd like a breakfast taco.

TM: We don't make breakfast tacos.

Customer: It's on a huge sign in your window and it's on that poster in front of you.

TM: That's just a marketing message.

Customer: What is it selling?

TM: That you may want a breakfast taco. I guess you have to figure out what the ingredients are and make it yourself.

Customer: Okay then, I where are the bento boxes that are on the other poster.

TM: ummmmmm. We don't sell bento boxes.

Now NA is ditching Blue prime signs and are having the SSSs printing them on white paper. They now look like a regular sign with a little blue prime dot. I'm sure this will be just another directive like the orange signs that we must do, then undo in a couple months. If global/regional took anonymous feedback every time they came up with a new idea, they could save a lot of time. People in the store see the issues the second the new idea hits the floor. So many ideas are implemented just to be corrected months later.
Also...your breakfast just got taco'd. Brilliant.

We print price signs from a web based app now. A ton of paper is wasted every day because too many people are doing it and no one remembers which paper type goes with which template. We have a couple very highly paid TLs at our store and now they are wasting time doing this instead of a signmaker doing it. The marketing team recently made us print hundreds of orange signs only to decide to no longer use orange paper a month later. Now we have about $5,000 worth of orange paper/revlar in every store that will go to waste. Marketing packages are delivered to the store every week. 75% of its contents are not used. Its the same in multiple stores. Lots of waste happening.

with the amount of paper we go through for TLs to reprint signs 4 times, or 6 TMs printing 6 different 6-ups on 6 different pages, or stores having to have people come out to patch up walls because we tore down spots where chalks used to be that we can't maintain anymore, the answer is no, we haven't saved any money.

Everything comes in a big box and we just put it out. Honestly it’s been fine.
