@1bps

Yeah if you’ve got no fall/winter stuff starting to arrive be weary. Sears and Kmart here have started getting winter flannel pajama pants, flannels and jackets in the last two weeks.

@10AA1fI8-1sbf Totally agree with you on customers' stupidity in liquidation sales. They think they're getting the deal of the century. THEY'RE NOT!

The liquidation sales are a joke. Take 10% a pair of jeans marked up to full price that is normally 40% off, not to mention SYW and freecash coupons. The usually almost free jeans suddenly become $35.

People are so dumb during liquidation all excited about these sweet deals that they are paying more for than we normally sell it for it's pretty funny and yes they do send a bunch of merchandise during liquidation get 3 times as much product on the trucks then normal when it first starts

@10AA1fI8-1pyq Uh no, they are for sure not safe. All of them are targets for closure as it has been proven over and over again.

And yes, they DO need much more merchandise, but they sure as hell won't be getting any. Unless it is from other closed Kmarts. But even then, the ones that are closing actually get MORE merch because they feel they can get rid of it faster in a closing store than an opened one. And while that is somewhat true, the stores that are opened lose even more stuff, making the shelves even MORE barren.

Kmarts are fairly safe and not on the chopping block as are the big Sears, the Kmarts just need much more merchandise.

I'm pretty sure some will still survive Halloween and even into Christmas. Though honestly, this year's Black Friday and Christmas are going to be super SUPER ugly. What with Kmarts having next to nothing people would want in the first place, even less so since most don't even have electronics anymore so I'd say after the holidays A LOT more are going to get shut down, I'd say easily another 100.

Every store is liquidating the company right now they just announce it when theres 3 months left to go.....when they're more worried about keeping pay roll low then sales up it's pretty clear what the objective is and they actually spend a little money on the buildings once they close them go figure

@1axe Hey Mr. Irrelevant. It gets ugly every time a store closes and people lose their job so it will continue to get ugly. As of the first of July of this year there were 397 stores total. With all the closings announced and unannounced since the first of July we are well below that figure. The continuation is ugly.

How do u figure there are close to 400 stores left?
The number is much lower
When Eddie bought the company we had 415 stores not the bogus 425 he told the press
We slowly closed stores so in May the new store count was 400
We have quietly closed stores since then and just announced another 26
The store count is closer to 370

Yes the so called smart ones who say no Halloween coming in. Pallets of candy coming in. But they are the one's who seem to know it all.

"It's going to get ugly" ? It's been ugly since 2009.. There's barely 400 stores left. How much more ugly could get it. We surpassed ugly a long time ago. Now this is just irrelevant.

The Halloween candy is your severance, one m&m per year of service.

I guess the 3 pallets of Halloween candy is a mirage then.

@vvr - Here is the list released on August 6, 2019 by Transformco; 5 Kmarts listed, none in Indiana. Read it for yourself. You may not realize this, but newspapers have been known to make mistakes.
