Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's has lost it's appeal to the customer

Has the dust settled yet? If I were Mr. Gennette I would be in hiding after the last earnings release. Your reputation as a company is tarnished by your lack of integrity to your employees and customers alike. Women do not want rhinestones on everything, nor do we want to pay high prices for low quality merchandise. I can go to Walmart and get a blouse made in China for half of what your price tag is and still have money left over for lunch out. And by the way, the garment lasts longer too.

Your concept is stale and not appealing to the "She" you always refer to. Your INC label has lost it's unique quality and style. You have covered everything in rhinestones and cheap fabric and think this is us???? maybe you might look good in it, but the majority of women are going back to basics. Quality basics. Try bringing back basic sweaters, pants, denim without all the glitter.

You also have made headlines in my state for the way you treat your employees. Word eventually get outs and customers will not shop where a company is mistreating their staff. You can have all the parades you want but that does not cover up the abusive environment. I think your company has great challenges ahead. It will be along time before I step foot in a Macy's store again.

I worked my a– off forMacys for twelve years. At which point they chose to allow minimum wage to catch up with me! I was fired for discussing this with my peers. Then they denied my unemployment claim. Of course I won when I appealed, but who wants to go through a situation like this? Employers who don't treat their employees with the appreciation they deserve should not be allowed to operate a business. Boycott Macy's!

No loyalty.
Dirty work environments and filthy restrooms with broken doors and toilet paper hanging by strings in place of broken or missing holders.
Shameful

Who are the people picking out which items to sell at Macy's?? Everything is very gaudy these days. The patterns and prints are especially ugly. Wearing anything from Macy's screams no class. Very difficult and not worth the time/effort to find the few nice pieces.

As of this past Friday, August 23, the market capitalization of the company—all shares outstanding times the stock price—was a little better than $4.5 billion.

The company’s current valuation is not much more than the estimated $4 billion value that has been attached to its huge, iconic Manhattan flagship on Herald Square—just the real estate, just one store. In other words, Wall Street currently thinks Macy’s as a retailer is pretty much worthless.

It is not a happy Friday (or a happy two weeks) for Macy’s (M). Guggenheim Securities retail analyst Robert Drbul — a longtime sector analyst — downgraded his rating to Neutral on Macy’s stock on Friday... but removed his $20 price target entirely. The move is akin to saying the fundamentals of Macy’s are so in question, it’s unclear where the stock price could go in the months ahead.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-target-is-shocking-everyone-and-putting-amazon-on-notice-152309884.html

Are you kidding us with that second quarter, Target (TGT)?

Isn’t traditional retail supposed to be dead thanks to digital beast Amazon (AMZN)? Aren’t we nearing a bruising recession that hammers consumer spending and stock prices? Didn’t Macy’s (M) disastrous second quarter signal a new round of retail doom and gloom looms large? Tariffs are supposed to be obliterating retailer sales and profits right now, no?

With that entire dreary backdrop out in full force on Wall Street the past two months, it is no small surprise Target’s stock spiked 19% to a record on Wednesday following a blowout quarter. Target delivered and then some, crushing many of those dire narratives on retail.

Don't believe what everyone on this board is posting. Macy's is still a great place to work, just don't choose to invest your 401K in Macy's stock, besides it is never a good idea to have to many apples in one basket. Now, you definitely don't want to be working at store level, but if you can land a regional job this is a pretty sweet gig. You get to fly around and visit stores and the company picks up the tab for meals at cool high end restaurants, you can get in some sight seeing while staying at nice hotels and all of the cost is picked up by the company. We have a meeting planned in Reno next week where everyone will fly in for a week of gambling, drinking, dancing, and team building where we will be discussing strategies that have already been covered numerous times on other calls, webinars, and meetings so we don't have to do much work to prepare, just re-parcel some other presentations.

For entertainment we make the store people who are attending the meeting dress up in crazy costumes like having to wear all white at dinner and perform skits for the regional team, it's all really quite entertaining and we have a grand time. Those of us on the regional team need events like this to help cheer us up, since our stock options aren't worth anything, but it helps remind us of how important we are. This is not paid slavery, more like a well funded middle age fiefdom where each region is its own monarchy and the people who work in stores are the serfs, much better than slavery for both the peasants and royalty like.

WE all had to sign a waiver several years ago that we could all be released without just cause. If you did not sign it you were terminated. Solutions in store is not a smart idea. Post below is correct, you give up all legal action to sue the company if indeed it is warranted. Be sure and keep your signed release that you opt out of this.

WARNING!!...Do not agree to ARBITRATION...SOLUTIONS IN STORES!...It is designed for you to waive your rights to SUE the company...in a COURT of LAW...So, they can fire you without Just Cause...you have no Rights!!...The Representatives are very Partial...they favored the Company...100%...You get no JUSTICE... when you are Wrongfully Dismissed/Discriminated...

Opt out of SOLUTIONS IN STORES/ARBITRATION...If you decide to work for this HORRIBLE COMPANY!!
