Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Wake up people

I’ve been following this site for some time now, just reading posts. It’s finally time to say something for me.....
Wake up!! People are working very hard to spin things, to make them feel that their jobs are safe! If they spent this time being more constructively, like looking for other work, it would be time better spent! Companies that go CAO and EDI do so for one reason and one reason only! Other larger vendors such as Pepsi, Coke, Frito lay all have much different supply chain models. You cannot compare!
There is zero chance Mondelez will NOT go warehouse, and Mondelez is very close! The warning signs are all in place and have been visible for two plus years!
It’s been hard not to comment but now to read all the posts, grasping for straws, I had to finally post!
Wake up folks!! Prepare yourself! Adding to EDI at WalMart means nothing other than you are able to protect displays until dsd ends! Look more at the fact that EDI exists and Kroger is CAO!!
Don’t ask surprised!! You’ve had every opportunity to know! Mondelez is protecting themselves, you should too!

Fyi, I've worked here for years and years, and have been through many changes. At one time I had to order Swedish Fish and Sour patch kids in Walmart. It came on our Nabisco trucks. I had to stock the shelf in the candy section, and fill the big square movie theatre candy dump bin. Changes are coming, it's obvious.

When we are warehouse stores will get close to five deliveries a week, big deal! They can more than handle our product!

dont knock the nestle guys i worked for kebler when they had step vans 20 years ago and now for nestle. for 24 the loads vary in different areas. more displays for mondelez to attend to but i know i do over 3 million a year on my route probably have more accounts also. you also hav to look at the shelf space. cookies and crackers have a much bigger section than our pizza and ic so therefore the orders are bigger. most of my stores are happy about it cause it decreases cost and i have already been seeing lower prices on our products that are already being oredred by the stores. also most walmarts get trucks for grocery 5 times a week which cuts the loads down alot. instead of 50 cases for me it would more like 12-15 per order for most stores. pretty easy to transform.

I’ve worked for both companies. Nabisco brings in more junk that isn’t need and can build display everywhere in the store. Well frozen food you can’t just put anyone. Plus most store don’t have room in their freezers for back stock. I would say Nabisco has bigger loads but not by much. It will be way easier for you guys to go warehouse. You can put cookies anywhere in the warehouse. One of our biggest account dollar general doesn’t even have a frozen warehouse. By the way I hate dollar general

Who’s saying stores can’t handle our volume and they can just hire a few extra employees??? They only need to hire 1 extra employee IF any. I mean how many merchandisers do you have throwing loads at multiple stores a day???? Just 1 !!! We don’t come out as a whole d-mn team 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nestle you’re stupid if you think we don’t bring much in!!! You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. I see the nestle trucks come in, at Walmart every week. It takes the OLD guy about 1.5 hrs TOPS! Maybe half fills 3 carts! Never more than 1 pallet. Some ice cream and pizza is ALL you dsd.. your company MAY be big but your DSD WAS NOT. While we have 2-5 pallets every delivery 3 times a week. In no way am I saying we’re not going dsd. I know we are but for you to say we hardly bring anything in you have no idea what you’re talking about. We’re notorious for loading up back rooms too!! 🤣🤣🤣

You guys are going down, I work for nestle in Denver , we are going down. We are the largest food company in the world. If we go don’t think you won’t, you guys never bring much in. It is also easier to transition to the warehouse model for you guys than us. Walmart doesn’t want to deal with vendors and the whole process. They have enough id–ts working for them. Get out of dsd ASAP or else. Don’t say you weren’t warned . Keebler is gone now nestle and we are frozen if we do it you will for sure. You have dry goods. Find a new career.

Whoever thinks retailers cannot handle the volume.....you got a loose screw! 95% of the stores are warehouse already with grocery! All but a few aisles are left! Hire a couple of grocery clerks, big deal! Not that tough! They are all about increasing and maintaining profit margins!! Gotta be willing to change with the times, or you will fall behind!! Stop fooling yourself!!!

Trust me Walmat can handle the volume. All they want is to make a bigger profit. If you think dsd is to big to go to warehouse you must have a slow brain. You will be the one crying about your job once it’s gone. You should prepare yourself for the worst and stop hoping for the best.

Frito lay use to pay a bunch of reps high dollar too. Then cut almost everyones wage down to the same starting pay as a merchandiser. Sorry but sales reps shouldn’t be making 80,000 plus bonuses plus a car PTO and full benefits that’s way to much money for slinging cookies.

I knew years ago as Kroger had the elimination of dsd in their 5 year forecast! I was not and am not a bit surprised by any of this, retailers are simply not paying exorbitant fees for what they can do themselves! No, dsd is not free, far from it!

You guys are on a sinking ship. I know you want to believe the ship is too big to sink. You might want to get in a life boat now. They told passengers on the titanic the same thing! Don’t end up at the bottom of the ocean. Get out while you can or at least have a plan to abandon ship.

The end of dsd for Mondelez was decided by retailers looking before Keebler left! It been I the works for years!

Keep telling yourself that. I’m sure they said the same to Keebler and nestle employees . They will value you until they no longer need you. They need your help with the transition. They want to keep you happy to help with the process.

We will be out of dsd in the next year. Just face the facts. It’s a dying business model. Keebler was a great way for executives at Mondelez to see the pros and cons to going warehouse. I’m sure they are keeping close eye on nestle transition too! If those huge companies can make more money getting away from dsd. Why wouldn’t Mondelez do the same. Why pay over priced sales rep that just stock cookies on a shelf. 80,000 to just run stock and order.

Ok, so ignore everything unless it fits the agenda. Comparing our company to others for predictions make absolutely no sense and these endless post aimed at screaming at the sky do nothing. The retail industry has been changing for decades and absolutely no job is safe. Is restructing dsd not an option or do we always have to assume the absolute worst in everything?

So what! Frito reps know they will eventually go warehouse, they are getting more and more warehouse drops. Their orders aren’t locked at wal mart and they have been CAO for a long time! They don’t have EDI, we do!
Quit grasping for straws!! I’m a rep for Mondelez and guess what, I have more than 4 stores, don’t drive a box truck and bring my own product, I’m not union....want me to continue?
It’s almost embarrassing to read these posts! When we are told dsd are you going to be prepared or are you gonna just scratch your a$$ and act surprised?
Spend your time finding a new job, not trying to convince yourself your job is safe.

It’s hard to read posts where people keep saying,”it’s been years now that we’ve heard dsd is ending”, take a stab at projecting how long a global company would want or need to position themselves for a change of this magnitude. Not just Mondelez is involved, every retailer as well as direct accounts. Mind boggling how stupid some seem to be in regards to this change. Meanwhile every red flag is there! Wow!
