Top CEOs say maximizing profits can no longer be primary corporate goal

honestly, i know these ceo's could care less about their employees and customers, but this is a bit telling to me. these individuals are coming out with this statement as a direct result of knowing the sentiment in this country is turning very, very, very hard against them and their ill gotten wealth. i doubt anything comes of this, but they must be getting a bit scared that the villagers will be coming pitchforks in hand sooner than later. as someone else commented could this also be their way of trying to save their asses when earnings reports arent what is expected with an economic downturn potentially on the way. but how great would it be if these individuals finally changed their ways and accepted that wall street is destroying businesses, not making them great. who the hell is going to buy the products, take out the loans, etc. etc. if the masses continue to lose pay and jobs! the end result to all of this is mass civil unrest that could lead to all of us, them included, losing all the advancements we have made for generations because a war destroyed them all.

Don't be mistaken, this is simply the contradictions in our economic system coming home to roost. Push coal miners too hard for example and your mine will be shut down because everyone got black lung. It's nice that someone is acknowledging these issues, but as is typical they're probably noticing too late.

  1. s. – marvin ellison did not sign this statement. The new statement includes 181 signatures of the 192 current members of the Business Roundtable. HD ceo did sign the statement. I do not know if marvin is part of this group but i dont see why he wouldnt be since hes a ceo of a fortune 50 company.

either way if you compare this to his podcast 2 weeks ago....he is LITERALLY now at odds with nearly every major ceo....at least publicly!!! wow!
