Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Any news on layoffs?

I hear that GBS is planning layoffs in the UK beginning q4.
Anyone have info about other geographies?

@sma, your post is useless because it lacks actionable insight as usual. It is obvious to anyone that if you cost more than your peers or if your group is non-strategic or non-profitable, your job could be at risk. What you failed to tell us is how a person can find out if they are in such a situation while working at IBM.

The equation is pretty easy to solve for. If you cost more than approx 15% vs your peers (this includes intangibles like health, retirement, holiday, and burden) then you have a higher likely hood of getting tapped. If your project group is considered non-strategic, or has a lower gross profit vs the reported profit for your division, then you have a higher likely hood of getting tapped. The entire services play right now is lower costs. It’s job 1 according to the CFO

Services (GTS/GBS) is always cleaning house, just does not always make the news.
