Thread regarding IBM layoffs

When will Ginni Rometty be FORCED TO RETIRE

IBM Senior Executives are supposed to retire/leave at age 60. Ginni is there and IBM needs her gone. IBM needs some young new blood in the Senior Executive levels and the current wave of Senior Executives jumping from the sinking ship, IBM, proves it. Replace Ginni with new blood or even with a modified WATSON system and IBM will start to grow, quickly.

I believe she is partly still there because anyone taking the role would be taking a poisoned chalice so to speak. They would have to release all the c-ap  provisions and accounting tricks shes stored in her accounts to look good artificially, so why would anyone come to become her fall guy\gal.....unless they agree to pay them richly for the utter destruction of their career and reputation.

Keep smiling that cheesy smile Ginni you got it made ;-)

I believe it would be better for the company to fail a bit more such that it can then be reborn in its earlier image of "a reassuringly expensive organisation". Meaning they cost more .....but rest easy they always solve your problem and get the right result. Those days are long gone unfortunately along with most of the talent that built that reputation.

Today's IBM is competing at the bargain store level on cost and talent with offshore code monkeys supported by on-shore newbs, that actually cost more to manage, and frequently deliver mediocre results with everyone off to the legal courts to resolve. This often lack luster delivery is backed up with the most funny and colossal expenditure in marketing *ank. An algorithm is all that watson was, now it will change the tyres on your car....!

But most of the big players in the market are doing exactly the same, so now its time to go medium tier consultancy where a lot of ex IBMERs went.

@4khf,
Send Watson to Agile training as well.
Maybe Watson can use simple logic to burn the mopes teaching the course.

The IBM board plans to replace Rometty with IBM Watson. They figure an "AI/ML system" will produce better results. After all its already cured cancer, so running IBM shouldn't be a big deal. All it needs to do is to trigger another round of RA's and stock buy backs.

Inkq. So what will back fill the services operation or what will IBM’s new strategy be. Reason I ask is services is approx 50% of IBM’s revenue, and that would leave a big void. Considering Ginni has what maybe 1-2 years max. NOTE I do not disagree with you, as I also believe services has run its course, but what is the strategy going forward

GTS/GBS will be completely dissolved before Ginni departs.
And to GBS fanboy, please stop typing, we already know GBS had a .00001 % gain last qtr.

I don’t believe Ginni will be forced to retire, as the board has extended her. The board may split the CEO position from Chairman, and thus they will “promote” her out. I know she has both positions today, but it would be a way to quasi change day to day leadership. Offer the CEO to someone else and remove Ginni from the day to day.

Too late Ginni has permanently destroyed IBM ! Nothing/Nobody can save it, the company is dead. !
