Most of us are far from satisfied with how things are panning out right now and the long-timers sure like to remember “the good old days”. One thing is for sure, the company is changing at a rapid pace. For better, or for worse, we are yet to see ( my money's on the second option). What will Cisco look like as a company five years from now and what will be the consequences of those changes?

Workflow driven, one-size-fits-none ‘Customer Experience’ (did anyone ever say out loud that this change was was about creating a ‘great’ customer experience?). Significant reduction in OPEX through deskilling (regrading) of roles. In the main, a mostly new recent college graduate workforce for whom this will be the new norm.
I’m thinking more like Sun Microsystems.
It will look like some combination of the following:
- Blockbuster video
- Kodak
- Circuit City
- Sears
- MCI WorldCom
#1 Software company...really....tell that to Microsoft, Oracle and SAP. My god, the Kool-aid is powerful in Las Vegas this year.

Very much like what happened to HP, chopped, chopped, and discard the parts. So sad to see this also happening to a once great company. I’m glad I bolted and ran early.

It’s a publicly traded company. Things changed quarter to quarter. Asking about 5 years from now considering the CX transition is silly.

In about three years, after the stock has stalled, it will be time to break up the company to "unlock the value" and Chuck and his cohort will take the money and run.
