Some clown just made a new post saying PRP announcement in October and GSR layoff, they guessed Feb. 2020. Who knows if that info is true or not...too hard to tell. At least the PRP announcement is September made sense as they usually give people whom qualify about a month to mull it over...if the accept cut off day is in early October, it would mean the people were off the books by end of 1st qtr. 2020 (as PRP is 6 months in duration). If they announce it in October, it would mean the people whom take advantage of it would be on the books until the end of the 2nd qtr, 2020.

At any rate, if it is announced, I will now qualify, so I will take a good hard look at it.....if it is anything like last time, it might be an offer too good to refuse.

Plus - since I only worked part time through the summer of 2018, I didn't need to use as many vacation days. Ford paid me for one month of unused vacation. PRP rocked - my replacements came on right away and I surfed the internet for 3 months!

The Ford medical until 65 is huge - alternatives can be $1000 per month. Lease cars - ehh. Monthy payment not that competitive with outside, insurance is the real plus.

TAKE THE PRP!! Assuming they offer it again....

I considered the PRP in 2018 but really wanted to work for a couple more years. I was sure they wouldn’t force me out because I always got good reviews, worked hard and was productive and eager to keep current skills. I was wrong! I have friends who took the PRP and they got a much sweeter deal than those of us who were forced out. They only worked part time in 2018, got a 9 month lump sum in January, get ford benefits until they’re eligible for Medicare and get to keep their management lease vehicles until October 2019. I get my pension, five months severance and five months of ford benefits. I got to keep my management lease vehicles for one week. If there’s a PRP take it if you can because it’ll give you more benefit and more time to arrange for whatever comes next. Don’t worry, life after ford is actually pretty sweet!

@1tow. Agree mostly with what you say. Except the stay if you have less than 20. The longer you stay at Ford the less appealing you are to other companies. Ford has a reputation for having a divisive and bureaucratic working culture and other companies don’t want that brought to them. One hiring manager said “Convince me that you didn’t sit around and do a whole lot of nothing at Ford.” It turned out he was forced to do that for three years at Ford, then quit.

The likelihood of Ford ever changing is slim. It is now essentially a North American large truck and SUV company. The Japanese, Korean and Chinese auto companies dominate the sedan, minivan, compact truck and compact SUV market, they are taking larger and larger shares of the large truck and SUV market. A casual observer can see It does not end well for Ford. Money is being thrown about with wild abandon at Mobility and Automous. Sometimes it is hard to see the ship you are on is sinking as there is so much group think and back slapping going on. Then one day your ankles are wet and you are frantically looking for the lifeboats, and find they were thrifted and everyone is going to drown. Tick Tock.

BRING ON DEM OFFERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I am ready to go I could care less if I was let go involuntarily. They effed our reporting structure up so bad to save an arse ton off LL6 positions who have no idea what we do in our group. It is literally embarrassing what they did. I have been told good luck get in involuntary package and that does not sit well if there is not a sweetened PRP offer as there was in May of 18'. Those who took it then got a basket full of cash and were ready or nearly ready to go.

To @10JhL060-cou

Yes, you are correct that the benefits of taking the PRP or being forced out involuntarily are about the same, such as limited benefits and job/life assistance to help one chart their new choice either in finding a new job or career. However, there are important differences:

For starters, if one goes on the PRP program, they get to make that choice, and manage how they go out (work 3 months, get 3 months off, retire, or work 6 months part time then retire). Second, I believe the last two times PRP was offered, Ford 'bumped' up the pension if the person had not hit the 30 year mark to make the move less painful in the long run. Both those things are not done if you are just let go.

On the plus side for involuntary, you get get severance as you leave, which for people with 20 or more years amounts to 9 months' pay......while they also offered that for the 2018 PRP, in the past they have not done that, so whom knows next time?

Bottom line, it is up to the individual how to approach the future. My free advice is to all those still left: if you have less than 20 years in the company, just stay BUT keep on looking for better opportunities outside of the auto industry...should always do that anyway. If 20 or more with Ford, careful consider the PRP package if offered later this year/early next year and you qualify, knowing that no matter if you leave via PRP or involuntary, your pension will be frozen and you;d need to find another job regardless...so would you rather be go out your own way or be pushed out their way? Personally, I think the optics look better to future perspective employers if you leave on your own vs. being kicked out. However, YMMV...

Honestly speaking. For those looking forward to a PRP an involuntary layoff may be better in the long run since it would include limited health care and severance pay nearly equal to a sweetened PRP offer.

In an all hands meeting a few months ago we were told there would be no PRPs this year because they didn’t want to take their chances on who might take it. They preferred involuntary separations because they could decide who would leave. In hindsight the people who would get a large pension bump if they worked another year or two would keep working and that’s who they were after. Who knows who they’ll target the next time. They seem to hit heavy at the LL6 level every time but the way they pick the individuals seems to vary.

I think he makes the offers through PRP to get the voluntary end of the business over with first. This way he gets big salaries and more than likely ones with pensions off the books.

Remember SRD was a 4 wave process beginning with the PRP.

Yeah I agree, stock price is low, plus economy is slowing a bit in the auto sector. They will hire back tho.

There will be no PRP. Layoffs will be happening early next year after they find out the damage the new Union contracts are going to cost them.

Of course they are converting/hiring agency–cheaper! Let's see how many of THEM can afford an overpriced truck or SUV.

Oh they are coming, folks. If you don't take the PRP, if they offer it, you'll be gone early next year. This company is no place to "park".
