Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

This isn't just about layoffs

People are getting burnt out - too much work, too much stress, too much of not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow...

Our turnover rate is getting worse and worse, and I don't see BNY Mellon doing anything about it. I understand needing layoffs sometimes, but you also need employees to do the work.

At this rate, the only thing this bank will have soon is a bunch of empty offices.

Empty offices...... You mean Empty, “ collaborative open workspaces”.

It isn’t just about layoffs, it’s about being retained too.

BNY now just a bad place all around. I know many still here that are looking for other jobs. We even congratulate those laid off, like they won a lottery. We hope we’re next!

What a company.

My thoughts are that "if" BNY has a plan it's to continue small (200-500 at a time) layoff's avoiding any press coverage that 1000 + layoffs would generate. This way only people who aren't able or willing to go somewhere will stay and eventually be termed. They stopped caring about employee's and culture a long time ago regardless of what they say publicly. Clearly the plan is break-up and/or sell so fewer employees, fewer locations is just that much more attractive to potential buyers.

Very true. I don’t think senior management knows (or cares) about the stress and anxiety levels among the employees. It would be far better if they were completely transparent about staffing decisions. It always leaks anyway, better to share more real info.
