HR used to be helpful and honest. Now, like the rest of the company, it is managed by crooks who are afraid of the bigger crooks they report to. I would be embarrassed to work for HR at Xerox given current treatment of employees! But I bet they don’t care about ethics or just being a good human being. I am so glad I left this sh– show!!

As a function, HR is in place to ensure that the company can attract and retain the talent it needs to meet business goals while also ensuring that the company and its employees follow internal company rules and external laws to ensure compliance. It’s not for or against anyone.

That said, HR is run by people and there will always be a range of folks from great people who try to help those there to only cash a paycheck and others who will do anything for the next promotion/raise/power trip.

Unfortunately for everyone at Xerox, the person running HR today got the job after putting together JV’s compensation package under the direction of Mr. Icahn after the coup. Thus, the direction is clear - do whatever JV wants or suffer the consequences. The good folks who were left in Xerox have since jumped ship or have been forced-out. The rest are simply trying support their families in the face of mounting staff reductions while swimming up-river in a culture of fear.

They are on the side they get paid from.....I. E. Corporate. This is true for most companies.

At a minimum HR should at least direct you to the policy that references your situation or issue, which doesn’t happen under current Norwalk mgmt. HR policies should be available to you on the Xerox Hub under HR

At the company I worked at I would copy the senior VP of HP and CEO on every email regarding an issue I was having. It was amazing how quickly they got my issue resolved. If another issue was dragging on, I copied them.

To the anon that tried calling the 800# for HR, they no longer have an 800#. If you have an HR question, you now have to send an email to AskHR@xerox.com and someone from another country will contact you in 3 to 7 business days with a response. After I had gave notice and did it took them 3 days to tell me I had to give notice via the GEMs portal, it then took them until my last day to provide my manager with my exit paperwork. However because this is in reference to your 401k then you have to call 1.800.428.2203 for Conduent that still manages the portal for our 401ks and even though they have an address in Cherry Hill, NJ, their CSRs are also located in another country. So much for the creation of all these US jobs. We don't have to worry about borders because our installation and move coordinators, accounting and billing departments are now in Guatemala.

I recently retired and had a situation where I had a small balance on a short term loan I took out against my 401K, and needed to know what the options and process was to closing it out. After getting NO response to my emails and phone messages to 1-800 HR, I escalated to our HR contact in Norwalk who NEVER had the decency to respond either. Of course after I left the company I am receiving requests to close out, seriously what kind of incredibly incompetent organization operates in this manner? And yes I did keep copies of all my requests for information and assistance.

HR, like all Corp functions, are Xerox employees. They take direction from Xerox. They are on the side of Xerox. They are not on the side of employees.

If/when you get your general release of liability form to sign when layed off this reality will really hit home.

Why do you think performance reviews changed so much last year? To avoid claims against Xerox by high performing individuals who were laid off.

Why do you think benefits are so costly? Because Xerox did not want to have lower employee costs as plan administrator because that costs Xerox more.

Many more examples exist.

Xerox was known to be a socially conscious employee orientated company. This has changed drastically.HR is totally on the side of Management with an employee be damed attitude.

Wow - sorry but it needs to be said - you are very naiive.

HR is there to protect the employer to ensure they fulfill legal commitments and ensure they avoid litigation as much as possible.

They aren't your personal shoulder to cry on...!

PS to my last post (sod). Regarding HR's commitment to management, this is not unique to Xerox, based on observations and discussions with people from other companies.

It didn't take long to learn after I was hired that HR is generally always on the side of management. It came as quite a shock, actually. In my naive 20's, I assumed HR was there to lobby for and support employees. Throughout the decades, including time spent as a manager, I saw few instances where this wasn't the case. Now, in fairness, there were probably instances where an incident was non-disclosed, so "I didn't know what I didn't know".....
