Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Is it even worth to look at other jobs in the railroad business?

Or should I focus my energy on getting something outside of this business? I was laid off recently and I could really use some advice.

Depends on what your craft is, if you are an electrician or even a machinist, than definitely there are better options out there ( benefits on the railroad are not what they use to be, and are not going to get any better) . I still don’t understand how most industries have shift differential but the railroad does not.

Everyone's situation is different. Depends if you are ok with relocation, family structure, etc. Keep your options open, the railroad isn't the only gig around.

Do you really want to work for a company that has furloughed you once already? I know I sure wouldn’t
