Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Why are layoffs under the radar on this board?

We had some layoffs at my club, and a friend of mine who works at another club told me that layoffs are happening at his Club too. I believe that it’s the same story at many other locations as well. Seems that people on this board are talking about different issues like raises , scheduling etc, rather than actual layoffs

A lot of the layoffs that occur, aren't done through outright job elimination, so that gets covered, too. This company has been notoriously reducing staff for almost as long as I've been here, often by simply not replacing people who leave or are terminated, or by enacting measures that make it increasingly difficult to hire new associates AND get them out on the floor. Either way, they're still layoffs, although a fair amount of them occur more subtly than just rounding people up and kicking them out the door. Call it reduction of personnel through attrition, if you like. Regardless of the method applied, those who run this company have become addicted to contraction by any means necessary at the behest of the chief shareholders. People can blame it on whatever they want but this is all in reaction to how quickly the retail landscape is changing.
