Work ethic is a liability at Lowe's

Have you noticed that working your behind off, making sure there are no complaints against you, always going the extra mile never leads to a promotion, raise, or bonus at this place? No, what it leads to is having more work piled up on your already overloaded plate.

Hey, we laid off a bunch of people, but that guy over there always finishes all of his work on time and nobody is complaining about him - that means he can take more! That seems to be the thought process of our management. So why bother?

Financial incentives are for capitalists not unwashed plebs like us. Store managers can make five figure bonuses. Executives get half a MILLION as a signing bonuses after their first 90 days. Store associates who drive hundreds and thousands of dollars in sales get three slices of pizza and a polo shirt.

I have noticed it since I began working for Lowes about seven years ago. Lowes policies are so vaguely written, especially the attendance policy for stores. Its an open door for favoritism and management has their favorites, favorites that get away with excessive absences and everything else. This is nothing new for Lowes.

I’ve noticed it as well. The woman in my department who never puts away freight or down stocks has been elevated to a CSA 4 and makes almost $2,00 more than I do, according to her.

I’m so tired of working hard while other hardly work. When I bring up the work/pay deference management acts like I’m speaking in tongues.

So no more, I’m not k–ling myself putting away freight; I can’t even get my coworkers to clean up after themselves.

The reward at Lowe’s for working hard and getting the job done is more hard work.
