Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Where do you see Sam’s in five years time?

I’m sure none of us will get it right, but I think it would be fun to get some opinions on this matter. It could paint a good picture about how people feel about the company and it’s way in the future.

There won’t be anymore Sams Club...... They gave you all raises so in a years time when they close more or all clubs they won’t get the bad publicity they got 2 1/2 years ago when they gave us NO WARNING... I quit 4 months ago and I was a Manager for 8 years and it was the best decision I have ever made. I would strongly suggest everyone start finding new jobs Good luck everyone😱

At this rate a bad memory. Everyone's saying they will be online but what exactly does Sam's sell that's even worth shopping online? Anytime I hear of anyone ordering online they've had nothing but issues. This company has become so unorganized and unprofessional I'm honestly embarrassed to say i work here anymore. We have club managers who dont give a damn and dont have the experience or knowledge to be running a store, managers who know even less and team leads who are basically over paid cashiers. We are a joke.

The company no longer wants input from the associates and the ones that are being promoted or quiet young and put this company before everything in there life. They are definitely not qualified to run a club but are willing to work 7 days a week and get upset when us associates in there eyes dont care about the company. Im sure Sams will somewhat still be around but nothing to what us old timers remember when we started. I may be wrong but Costco seems to still care about its associates and members and doesn't seem to worry so much about Amazon and they seem to be doing just fine.

Don't care. I won't be working here much longer.

Hope it works out for the lifers that put everything into Sam's.

I've been fairly outspoken about this over the last couple weeks and I referred to the Sam's Club as being the dead weight that Walmart will rid themselves of within the next five years as they go about repositioning the company to remain competitive with Amazon, as it is absolutely crystal clear to me that competing with Costco is of no interest. Sam's Club will cease to exist in physical form and be entirely electronic by then because this is where the future of shopping is headed, not just for Walmart, but for a great many chains of stores everyone is readily familiar with. We will arrive at a stage in which sales at brick and mortar will have decreased to a level in which it is no longer cost effective to keep physical locations running and many will close. That is an unavoidable reality that we are headed for very quickly. This is the death of retail, folks.

I see them as being mostly an online retailer. They will most likely cut the number of physical stores by half or even more, with the remaining clubs serving as pick-up stations for people who placed online orders. Ancillaries will all be closed, sold to third party, or merged with and moved to their Wal-Mart counterparts. They will probably employ only a small fraction of the current number of associates.

Learn a skill outside of retail and move on, people. There is no future here.

At this point I don’t care. The company for me that gave the people raises to the ones that don’t do a lot of work over the old timers that have been with the good and bad over the years. I have worked in so many departments over the years where I was needed and I been capped for 10 years now ( that’s making the same as what they gave the new team leaders). I know so much more then them. It’s funny when I’m helping them more stuff they don’t know what to put there I will tell them and he will say let me ask my manager and the manager will say just what I said. Sam’s gets what coming to them.
