Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Mark Hurd Leave of Absence Email to the Leadership

Source below...

To all my friends and colleagues at Oracle,

Though we all worked hard together to close the first quarter, I've decided that I need to spend time focused on my health. At my request, the Board of Directors has granted me a medical leave of absence. As you all know, Larry, Safra and I have worked together as a strong team, and I have great confidence that they and the entire executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we will showcase at the upcoming OpenWorld.

I love Oracle and wish you all success during my absence.

Mark

I was at HP during the MH years. I recall coming back from Christmas break one year and found people talking in hushed tones. I then learned that a team of about 20 people was WFR'd over Christmas, and everyone was in utter shock and disbelief over the extent and especially the timing of the layoff.

One has to wonder what is going through his mind at this point.

A google search says that his net worth is over $200M. Being that he was a highly paid CEO for almost 20 years, earning some really big bucks at O. Even losing a chunk of it to taxation I'd think he would have more than that. Not that it will do him any good now. I'm sure his heirs will remember him fondly.

The Bloomberg piece about MH is spot on. Finally, some of the names and the incompetence are named in that piece. Its refreshing to see someone at Bloomberg did their research. Get rid of the names in that piece, since they have no real idea about Oracle. Now we know they were MH placements. Everything MH touched turned to c-ap. Finally we have public knowledge of the underlings.

Must be a really, really bad quarter if it's true.

Confirmed as it's in the news. Oracle is probably in as bad shape as he is due to a decade of his cost cutting and loss of good talent under his tenure. He was ruthless.

THREE MONTHS AGO ON THIS BOARD - LINK BELOW:

In another threads it's said that MH is dying of cancer and will resign on Monday.

In this one he's firing everyone, even though most of R&D reports to LE and not to him.

Don't get me wrong, he hasn't been great for the company. But all these rumors contradict each other.

The two Rumors do contradict each other. Doubtful that MH will leave on Monday. There is zero evidence to support this other than occasional weight loss an potential wigs. I'd say the layoff rumor has a lot more supporting evidence.

Sorry but IMHO... For Oracle this is double bad news.

Bad news: MH stays, more bad news thousands of useful employees go.
