Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Tristate area to be the French's first victory since Waterloo.

Altice is coming to gobble up wireline with a massive bond sale to finance the purchase of the area's assets. They are also going to find a way to create a monopoly through large outlays of cash for lobbying. It is only a matter of time. They already have sold content to VZ.

Christ all mighty! Verizon signs a carriage deal with Altice and people think the company or at least the wireline side is being sold? Way too much trolling going on with that belief.

Verizon in order to save the blessed 10 billion they want to save will close down what ever they can to save money. A carriage deal with the removal of 200 employees accomplish that. There is no evidence that Verizon is selling wireline or portions of wireline. Frankly, I seriously doubt they could find a buyer for wireline.

Is it a monopoly though if you just control one option of getting a service?
People can use cable, sat or cellular maybe someday 5g for all things which I can already do with 4g pretty much.

Unfortunately VZ needs cash thus will sell the only wireline landscape remaining. The VZ unions will be hurt. There is always a buyer or a cost reduction play to gain a business expense such as the IT rebadging.

The French are hell bent on buying wireline. They want a monopoly.

Yea: Look what happened when Alcatel bought Lucent Technologies that became Alcatel-Lucent and then became Nokia. Remember Bell Labs now Nokia Labs....No telecom supply chain in the US! Nortel gone and the patent portfolio now owned b Facebook, Microsoft, Google so they don't have to pay royalties. Remember when NYNEX/Bell Atlantic had Bell Core that set the gold standard for telecom technology These companies would not even know how to invent. Bell Core now is owned by Ericsson. Hope this gets a real thorough review by CFIUS - The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States!

Yes the French are coming. It is a fact they made a content sale to VZ. This means they will buy wireline.

Tx, ca & fl sold for 10b , they would do the same for the east. No brainier. Wireline makes no money - look at frontiers stock.

The French are buying. Remember these people invented perfume in an effort to make bathing unnecessary. Believe who you wish but someone on here is in the know.

It would be shocking. Who would be dumb enough to buy this:

For Sale: One obsolete, unprofitable, shrinking business that requires massive CAPEX to maintain. Comes with expensive, needy and disgruntled union workforce.

Any takers? Yeah right.

The current regime in France has attempted to break their unions but have been largely unsuccessful. Contrary to the previous poster's beliefs unionism is alive, well and very strong in France. Take a look at the yellow vest movement. Their corporate leaders are surely well aware of the subserviant mentality of the traditional American worker and it's willingness to work unrepresented. While that may go down in the south with their master-slave conditioning I doubt it will play well in NY or NJ.

The French love their unions too. Love to break them I mean.
