I think a day doesn’t go by that someone doesn't mention in some context that BNYM will be acquired by one of the other companies in the banking sector. I relation to that, I wanted to start this thread and get some opinions on how plausible is that scenario, and who are the companies that could acquire BNYM.

I think we’ve been selling off losers for a while. We are still huge, so must sustain ourselves or merge with another in the same circumstance, then combine services and lay off redundant workers to save the new company. This has happened a gazillion times in all sectors of US business, and is a proven winner. Of course, there are still many losers. Welcome to capitalism 101.
It’s just too big to be acquired as a whole. It would have to be sold off in pieces. Sell what you don’t want to be a core business and keep what you do. WM is probably something to sell off.
Heard that a local Cash Plus franchise in the alternative financial services industry was expressing interest. Avoiding them now and and using payday loans instead.

I heard layoffs are happening across the board on Aug 19 & Dec 2. They want everyone out of Brooklyn by year end so they save $17MM in rent. There is not enough space in the new building so layoffs have to happen.

How many times will this question be asked here. For the last time. Jp Morgan is likely given our wonderful leaders. They may split off some sections that are not as profitable to other companies. Can this site focus on the layoff information . I am hoping to search for information on where the layoffs are happening and hopefully if I am next.
I have been hearing they are shopping around the ETF Custody department. I think JPM, MS was interested.
Only piecemeal not the whole thing ? Who? JPMChase, Goldman etc leaving a skeletal tenant of the Bank of New York pre 1970’s. And of course our CEO making a bundle. Of corse BNYM could pick through the bones of Deutsche Bank firesale
