Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Pension issues

I've been told that there is a backlog with regard to paperwork dealing with pensions. I am not a former employee, but am a former spouse of an employee that was let go in May, with a QDRO in place. I have been told (through back door information from a finance person who is still there) that I am, for all intents and purposes, eligible to start collecting, but I have been trying for two months to get information from Ford Benefits, and they keep calling me back to basically tell me they don't know anything yet. I realize this is not the normal situation here as far as my status, but are there other people who are having these types of backlog issues from Ford Benefits? Thanks.

My understanding, is that you can only begin drawing a pension benefit after your spouse has started drawing a benefit.

The pension benefits will be retroactive. It may take a while but when approved you’ll get a lump sum to cover what is owed going back to your eligibility date.

I hear there is a backlog now. I was also let go and applied for my pension the day that I learned I would be terminated. Mine was processed and I already started receiving benefits. I had to stay on them daily, check emails frequently and submit NESC requests. It was a part time job for about a month. I found the pension paperwork attached to an alert in NESC even though they told me I’d received it through postal. Assume they will drop the ball at every hand off.

For the person inquiring about their former spouse’s pension, you might need to ask your former spouse for help. NESC doesn’t seem capable of handling the routine things so I can’t imagine what they’ll do with something out of the ordinary.

Yes they are playing that game with everyone. Despite knowing this was coming over 9 months ago they still are not staffed or able to handle the layoffs. Shows what a joke of a company this has become. Depending on who you speak to you will get different information as to when and how to get the money. Think they hope that if they keep ignoring it they will not have to pay it.

His ex is not "after his pension." The money that is currently set aside was mine, and has belonged to me for years. My question was not about my eligibility...it was about the current backlog at Ford Benefits.

Poor guy... lost his job and now his ex is after his pension. I believe your eligibility for a portion of your ex’s pension is defined in your divorce settlement. That’s not something that is decided by ford.
