Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Roseville Car

Your director/manager are lying to you. The cuts will be double what they are telling you maybe more. They are just trying to keep people there until they can get the cars out so they can make them self look good trying to save their own jobs.

Managers have no clue. They get a phone call the morning of and are told to furlough.

There's a good chance the manager knows as much or less about job cuts than the average railroader, especially if they were hired during the past two years.

Directors are funny animals. They technically ceased to exist in my department while I was there, when they all became Senior Managers, yet they (especially the Neanderthal who I worked under) still insisted on being addressed as "DBM" and even left it in their email handle.

Anyone that thinks mechanical locomotive or car department have a chance of surviving these furloughs is living in a fantasy world. You can do your job or not in the end company will do what’s good for them financially. If you’re not actively searching job markets you’re a fool.
