Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Aggressive policy towards sick leaves

I had some health issues last month and my manager openy told me to reduce my absences due to my health condition to the minimum, otherwise my job could be in jeopardy. Has anyone faced similar practices at their clubs?

Sedgwick 1-800-492-5678. Call for an LOA or Intermittent LOA. You need proper medical documentation. If you have worked at least 1,250 (I think) hours in the last year you may be eligible for FMLA leave which is job protected. Not your job per se, but a like pay and scheduled job. You have 12 weeks a year that FMLA can be used. Again, your exact job is not protected by law but a like position with like pay and schedule. LOA absences are not counted against you as long as you are approved. If you apply and are denied they may count the two oldest absences against you.

not recently but yes...we had a guy actually die because his job was threatened..he had an ongoing issue with severe anemia. He had blood loss but the the doctors could not figure out what was going on. The then GM told him if he missed work again he was in danger of getting fired..a couple days later he was working a double shift in bakery and was nearly passing out.,,fellow workers told him to go to the hospital to get checked out..he said no because he was afraid to lose his job..the next day he was rushed to the hospital..the day after he died..I believe til today had he left work when he needed he likely would still be alive today..make no mistake to many managers Sams is more important than your life.............
