So how do the old timers with the “192” built up use it before we quit?

For those that didn’t use the system to their advantage, the company sees you as a liability, not a strength. You claim coming to work sick is some badge of honor... really it’s a badge of shame. Other people see you sick and say “stay away from me!” I’m going finally get that worker of the month vest by bringing in my kids streptococcus throat to a place where 1000’s of people get their food from. Why wouldn’t corporate enjoy the free publicity that an illness at one of its stores has passed on to the paying customers because someone was too stupid to just follow doctors orders and stay away while it is easily passed on to others. And the ones who NEVER CALL OFF let everyone know how they have never missed a shift in 15 years?!? Never catch a 24 hour flu bug? Yeah, but I still came to work.... Never have diarrhea or high fever after eating something?? A couple times i guess, is 101.7 even considered high? Kid come home from school puking his guts out, unable to hold down any solid foods? Yeah, but that’s my kid, I feel fine... because kids never spread what they are incubating to adults, NEVER!! Stop telling our customers that you are some freak of nature, they know how much they get sick and it’s a bad look for our company to hero worship spreaders of diseases. The Plague would have been a much bigger deal during the WMT growth years, crazy dedicated associates went right from the c-apper to the deli, because that bologna is not going to slice itself!!
I know of 3 ptc that keyed all the pto in before the severance and got fat checks and higher severance checks because of it. Must be nice to have that perk.
Unless your state has laws in regards to your sick time or personal time it pretty much is gone. There are no federal laws to speak of that cover sick time.
Someone should start a class action lawsuit on this one. That time was accrued based on hours worked, just like PTO is now. You earned it.
I am a former 30+ year associate that lost almost 500 hours when I took my severance package.
192 sick pay, 300 of personal time that were put in those stupid buckets that screwed me. That is exactly why they did these stupid buckets. We had no warning that we would lose these hours until it was too late. Then a year later they started with all of these changes and their plan was in action to eliminate long term partners. Never say never, they will do whatever they want just to please their investors who demand more profits in their pockets, and $crew us the people who actually cared about this company.
As an ex PTC/employee I use to put it in for the associates when they were all out of their pto. I would enter it as "sick" for them. So they wouldn't lose it.
Keeping your sick time maxed out in those days alloed it to roll over into personal time which didnt have a "cap". It was a very nice program for us. They also had profit sharing and they took that away also. This company has never been the same since Sam died. Its all about corporate greed now more than ever and the hell with the individuals who make this company
Most definitely got screwed on this. How is it legal for them to "tell" us how we use what we have worked to earn. And how is it legal for them to not pay it out when one quits? I suggest you put in a pto request day every week to give yourself a third day off until you get to the "banked" time and then can use that up. I quit and lost a total of 190 hours that was "banked" that I worked for!
Sam's Club screwed us?????
(please insert feigned shocked look on my face here)
I thought that they respected the individual!
Tell me it ain't so!!!
Yes they really did screw us good on that one . Right before the hrs went into “ Bank “ People was calling in left & right —The company did nothing about it . I wish I was one of the ones calling in and using those hours . Just burns me and the hours have to be used for a family member only & you have to be out of all your time . YES THEY. SCREWED US OVER GOOD
You must be out of all PTO and PPTO. You must be on a qualified LOA for care of another family member. Then you may use up to 80 hours of Legacy Sick Time.
Yes Yes they did. We earned that 192 sick hours by not calling out like most people do, we at one time cared about our jobs & who it would effect if we called out. Now I kinda wish I would of done it because there were times i came to work sick .To late now because my time with this company is almost over just counting the days.
Can only use it to take care of a family if they are ill. And then u can only use 80 hours of it. They screwed us good on that 😡
