Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Buckle up... layoffs next week

Q2 earnings report next week. That always means layoffs. They've been watching finances in Tampa like a hawk, trying to make its everywhere they can. So far they haven't been able to reach the amount they've been looking for and the only other way to hit the goal for the investors is reducing the staff.

This will be an interesting couple of weeks at SEaWorld Orlando. I know a few people leaving for sure. I know of others that I have heard about.

The company is pinching pennies to no end. Something has to give here. Do they lay some people off soon? No one knows but it’s become an annual tradition.

So all of this means it's not over and it won't be over for a while. I know a lot of people who are leaving on their own so they don't have to go through this anxiety. It's painful and tough to go, but some have decided to go.

Sad is the anxiety that this is causing your employees. As a potential guest, I am worried about my family’s safety while participating in your park’s activities.Anxiety leads to lack of concentration;lack of concentration leads to accidents.Give these employees relief. Communicate with honesty. These individuals need emotional relief!!!!

That’s not true. I think 4 people got laid off last time in Tampa and they received severance packages.

They only do packages when its part of a major layoff, not the small 3 or 4 people here and there. Like when they started eliminating security positions that didnt constitute a "layoff" just more of a "your services are no longer required"

Which last time? There have been at least 4 (some smaller than others) in the last 12 months, at least 2 in 2019. How do you know majority didn't?

The majority of the layoffs in Tampa last time didn’t receive a severance package. We can’t even buy a single bolt at Home Depot without a preapproval

Yeah, they’re watching everything here in Orlando. They’ve restricted scheduling access to supervisors to the point where we can barely staff the area. Let’s see what happens!

Orlando finance is watching everything too. Talk to any department, and everyone is thinking the same "we can't get stuff ordered" until its an emergency situation basically.

Will be sadly a potentially interesting week.
