notice period for CA employees

is it 2 months even for CA employees? i thought that does not hold good in CA

Not here, but at another company I was subject to a 30-day notice period. A lot of people left with only two weeks. I asked a senior person and was told they only thing they could do was put a note in your file that said you were eligible for rehire.

I'd check whatever you signed to be sure, or consult an actual labor attorney.

OP here, i did sign to that effect, which makes me give 2 months notice, but was told they cannot enforce in CA

Abt, you would know if you signed something. Did you, if not, the polite norm in the US is two weeks.
