Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNYM-Contributing to the lost American dream

The great divide widens with the executives at this company keeping a greater share of the profit while cutting staff, bonuses, raises, and benefits in general. Despite the company not meeting Wall Street quarterly expectations, senior executives will continue to make millions while the hard working staff struggle to make ends meet and pray that they’re not the next to be terminated. Time for a revolt to end the heartless treatment of staff. Perhaps a walkout at all locations. Something to get their attention.

It is keeping it real if your over 50 and 15 years of loyal service, and you see everyone else in your situation being rate BE and shown the door for cheaper labor.

Hey lets keep it real here. BNY does enough that we don’t need to exaggerate or make up stuff.

BNY still employees thousands of people. Many still get raises, bonuses (and my health care premium actually went down last year). Our 401Ks are doing great (and maybe our rollover IRAs from prior employers). So personally, many would seem to be doing fine.

What we hate about BNY is useless, bad company policies and the really bizarre statements from our upper management, all of which disrespect workers and depress productivity. After the market forces affecting all of the industry, BNY is its own worst enemy.

We are heartbroken when good people are let go, and distressed that remaining resources must work extra while worrying that they could be next to go, or even get the insult of BE despite their best efforts.

If walking off the job makes you feel better, good luck with that. Just be aware that could give BNY a reason to let you go. Insubordination is a common reason for letting a person go for cause, which means no package.

Remember, upper management is rated by people they report to, just like we are. If you are jealous that capitalists make more $$$ than workers, I don’t know how to fix THAT. Its just the way it is under this type of economic system.

So, make sure you consider consequences (I wish BNY would, too). Be careful and good luck, whatever you do.

Everyone should wear red on Aug 19th — to communicate solidarity in our opinion of their unethical practices.

I work in BK and the morale is awful. Every day walking into my office is like walking into a morgue. Each floor is half vacated, you can hear a pin drop. Heard Aug 19 is going to be a blood bath with layoffs and then more Dec 2. Very sad. Managers are behind closed doors every day.

I’m in if everyone did this. So true about the treatment of staff. They say we are their most valuable asset, but they don’t treat us like that. More like, out with the trash. Wake up everyone. Tired of the brown nosing in MSS spouting the bs they think the company execs wants to hear.
