Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Mental Health and Stress Management

The thick irony is how much our CEO talks about how Mental Health is a major crisis in this country – and yet, this persistent bi-annual threat never abates.

The stress this causes most Cisco workers is very real – and they just shove it down inside, and try to do the best.

As someone I admire much said when I was young. "Want to know the truth of a person – watch what they DO, not what they SAY."

Semi-annual. If ONLY it were bi-annual – that means every two years. Heck, if only it were actually semi-annual – that means only twice a year. This is the third layoff since last November.

I don't understand how you can trust the companies beliefs after this. It's just ridiculous..

I was LR'd 1.5 years ago. Leading up to it literally almost k–led me. I was in constant stress, couldn't sleep, my nerves were shot and my husband was about |this| close to divorce me. Getting laid off literally saved my life and I've found a job that makes my soul sing. I agree the mental toll it takes on employee's is enormous but I also learned I probably shouldn't be that attached to my job...its a job. There are other jobs. Its ok. The hiring market is on fire and you'll find out how low your salary was. Go get whats yours....and your life back! Cheers!

Not sure if this is going to help reduce homelessness in San Jose.

Even worse, the day-to-day stress is so bad, many pray they will be laid off. HR could save themselves a lot time and trouble by just posting a sign-up sheet on CEC.

(No disrespect intended toward those who were affected today against their wishes. I have no doubt you will all find better situations soon.)

Sometimes I think survival is actually worse than getting the LR.

The anticipation of LR is worse than being LR'd itself
