Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Curious - In the Last Episode of LR's (2018) , ELT sobbed and tearfully insisted that LRs would have first dibs on internal jobs

We still have internal "apparent" open reqs all over the place. Beginning to doubt if they are real . I know top engineers and professionals, internal and external, who have applied or been recommended to dozens of Cisco jobs who never get a call back or the job gets cancelled or they are told that they have insufficient experience -( even for a grades 4-6 !!!)

Why are there no Cisco internal hires from this "terribly sad , yet necessary" LR pool?

Why is that?

I wonder if the light orb they (JS) had onstage at the last GSX (August 2018) is at low intensity right now. What complete corporate claptrap.

Absolutely correct - it is complete BS. Myself and other colleagues were impacted in the 2018 round in the UK and, strangely enough, the hiring managers for the internal recs all went very quiet. Fairly obvious though...if you are wanting to remove people over 50, you don't want them escaping the cull by jumping into an internal vacancy.

I'm so glad I'm out as my final year in SP was truly dire but my heart goes out to anyone caught up in this latest round. Just appreciate you are at that early stage of the Kubler-Ross curve and take some time out to decompress from this dysfunctional organisation, invest in your skills, spend time with family and/or friends, get your LI profile and CV/resume polished and hit your professional network for opportunities.

It won't feel like it now but it really is the best thing.

It's complete BS. We just hired 2 new hires to fill recs and both outside candidates who are very weak. Have another rec open and lead candidate is another weak outside candidate.
