Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Curious about the status of my job.

So first of all I just wanna say it's pretty awful that all the FSA and assembly people had to be let go. I really liked both of the guys at my store, and like to think I'm pretty good friends with our ex-assembler. We talked about sports every morning when he got to the store.

As for my job, I work nights as a stocker, and task when we aren't so busy. It's a pretty rough job sometimes, what with getting blamed for everything that's wrong in the store (whether it's our fault or not), but I enjoy it for the most part. Was wondering if anybody's heard anything about night crews or stocking crews, unloaders etc. They said their goal is to eliminate all non-sales positions, so I'm pretty worried about my job. Our crew has a meeting with our bosses tonight, so I dunno what's gonna happen.

I saw somebody mentioned something about this "one task" night crew, which would mean my job's fine, but I'm still worried. I know it'd be pretty bad for a lil bit in the store if all the stockers got fired, but I'm sure it'd be fine eventually. I know I'm not irreplaceable. Any thoughts? News? Thanks a lot if you've got somethin!

I was an assembler. Got no notice and a joke of a transition pay. Yes, they call it "transition".
Corporate just sees numbers. Not lives. So much for all the help they boast about. This is a natural disaster. Man made.
The employees are awesome! And it was a great place to work.
From what I know. Management wasn't even aware of who and what.

as far as i am aware depending on what volume your store is.....i think the cutoff is around 40 million maybe.....youll all be absorbed into a new one task team group that works overnights. that would include pricing, freight, unloaders, order pullers, stockers etc. sounds like all non-selling positions that can be done overnight will now be done overnight. if your store doesnt meet the threshold i think all those positions will now come in at 4am with the people that already work that shift.

ultimately i think the goal is for all stores to go to one task team.

obviously if you refuse to change and work your new shifts youll be laid off. i assume a lot of people will refuse to go overnights especially. and i assume overnights will have 2 manager/supervisors to cover the 7 days...

pricing coordinator will be moved to nights starting in Sept and everyone on nights will be known as the ‘One Task Team”, which would indicate to me that all will be expected to move around wherever they are needed to most—including the pricing coordinator.
